And he pops out 3-0 at a time when we need baserunners. Genius.

Napoli not even close to good contact on a 3-0.

Benefit of that surprising/initially upsetting Nava K at a ball in the dirt: Perhaps saves Salty, Drew from facing a tough lefty.
EDIT: Well McGee warming. 28 pitches for him last night, so I wasn't sure he'd be coming in. If he does, we need Xander pinch hitting.

That was a really bad sequence of hitting. They're trying to force it vs being patient. Torres was out of gas.

Didn't get my edit posted in time. He threw a good amount of pitches last night (28). And reverse platoon splits or not, we need a spark. We need Xander pinch hitting. Ross warming! Option to hit for Salty?

Oh god. Game 5 folks. Kudos to those who warned us well in advance. Why don't the two of you get out of the thread for the rest of the night then? Seriously, that negative type of post contributes nothing, especially when the game is far from over. Edit: Terrific start from Peavy. He's given us a great chance to win this game - just up to the bats to come through. Extremely overdue.

why the early hook? peavy's thrown like 70 pitches of 1 run ball?

More tremendous bullpen management by Farrell. How? Because of Peavy's pitch count? Jesus man, he wasn't locating his stuff AT ALL this past 2 innings, if he faced Loney it would just be Farrell trying to steal outs. You guys are never happy.

Alright, Breslow is going to get out of this inning, the Red Sox are going to score five runs, and the madness ends tonight, right?

LOL, nice bat flip, Myers. I was thinking that same thing, I think he has hit one out every medium fly ball he hits. Maybe Price should talk to his Rookie before he worries about Ortiz "Pimping"

I am very confused why Peavy was removed. He had only thrown 70 pitches and give up one run. If Farrels reasoning is that Breslow can get Loney out, fine. But who on earth is going to get them through the 7th and 8th inning? Peavy easily could have gone that deep. Farrells dumb decisions are going to cost the Sox the series.

Umm. I don't know how I feel there. Peavy would have gone 8 innings if this was a regular season game. We pitched the entire top-end of the pen yesterday, and we just burned Breslow on one batter with Longo, Zobrist, and Jennings due up, with Dempster possibly pitching to them. Take Loney/Breslow out. Who do you want in the 7th, Peavy or Dempster? Yeah...

Farrell is consistent if nothing else
edit-My bad I thought that PH was for Nava, for Salty makes more sense...and holy cow a Xander sighting

Or, Breslow can go the 7th (he faced two hitters yesterday and threw less than 10 pitches), Tazawa for the eight, Uehara for the ninth (and tenth, if necessary). It's the playoffs-- you have to rely on your relievers to pitch two days in a row. Maddon's certainly doing so with his relievers.

Couldn't do this last night when you had 2 men on and 1 out but ok now with none & none. I get it. He's trolling.
