Small samples and all that but Peralta was/is 0-8 vs Breslow. 1-5 vs Uehara.
Really think Breslow was worth another out or two.

It just feels like Farrell is hitting the panic button when Breslow has given him no reason to panic. agreed with both the above, probably could have pushed Breslow for at least another out

Can you imagine how hard our hearts would be pounding if this was game 7 of the world series and we brought in Koji for a 5 out save?

The issue for me isn't that Koji can't do the job. He most certainly can. It's the extra pitches and the fact that he might be needed for two more games and God willing more games in the World Series. Just don't want to see the Sox overuse him and lessen his effectiveness.
Let's get an insurance run or two and make Koji's job easier.

Then again, you could also make the case that Koji should be coming in for 12 out saves...

It just feels like Farrell is hitting the panic button when Breslow has given him no reason to panic. On a per-inning basis, Uehara had what might be literally the best season any pitcher has ever had. He has also had multiple four-out saves both in this postseason and over the course of the season. The Red Sox are up only one run and face unfavorable pitching matchups the next two games. Koji has not shown any diminution of stuff or results over longer outings. The Red Sox have a day off tomorrow. Breslow has struggled with his command and the strike zone is small tonight. I literally cannot think of a single reason not to pitch Uehara there. Care to explain why it's a panic move?

Good break for the Sox with Boegarts not getting rung up, but walking instead. This is a rare good time for a bunt.

Is there any reason to think this is the case? He didn't work last night and the Red Sox have a day off tomorrow. Unless he gives up a baserunner, he'll probably throw less than twenty pitches or so. Uehara did pitch a career-high in innings (as a reliever) this season but he's looked just as effective as he was during that hidden perfect game stretch. I understand the theory, but when the Red Sox are two wins from the World Series, I'm going with the demonstratively better pitcher.

That was a heads-up play by Middlebrooks, though Xander probably gets there faster.

Bye the way is WMB faster than Xander?...if you are going to PR why not Berry? They might want to save Berry for a more high-leverage situation (i.e. when the Red Sox aren't up a run). Middlebrooks was probably going to replace Xander for defensive purposes in the bottom of the inning anyways, and he's a more seasoned baserunner. That's the logic, not that I necessarily agree with it.

Bye the way is WMB faster than Xander?...if you are going to PR why not Berry? That would make too much sense. Farrell wants to make it interesting.

I respect Leyland but IBB to the AL base stealing leader with 2nd open? Really? ...and with only one out. Victorino needs to make contact here, though, something he's struggled with this series.

Its too bad Victorino gave up on the squeeze... just an awful strike out.

Their lack of clutch hitting is killing them. Victorino has been awful and Pedroia hasn't done much more than hit infield grounders.

Goddamnit, Shane. He's looked totally helpless when hitting righty-on-right against good breaking balls. It's why he tried hitting lefty earlier this game-- Tiger pitchers have finally exposed that hole.
