What an AWFUL strike call against Gomes. Completely changed the dynamic of the AB.
Even so, Gomes playing and batting 6th is absurd.

Waste a lead off double. Disgusting.

Gotta love all the Gomes pop-ups and strikeouts this postseason vs. RHPs. Nothing you can do to fix that, I guess. Yeah, it's too too bad there isn't someone on the bench that has hit well the entire season.

Phew, good thing we don't have one of the better hitting outfielders in the league vs. RHPs.

Meanwhile Lackey again has to beg for run support. Brutal.

Was Napoli on the bag? It was a great pick either way.

Matt Meyers ?@mtmeyers 32s Stephen Drew's mid-career transformation into a no-hit, plus-glove shortstop has been bizarre.
It bothers me that so many people don't realize Drew had a very solid offensive season for a shortstop.
And then there's this:
Ian Browne ?@ianmbrowne 1m Were people really clamoring for Iglesias to play over Drew earlier this season? Drew is probably better defensively. Was I one of those?

Waste a lead off double. Disgusting. Difference between the two teams-- the Cardinals drove in their leadoff extra base hit.

Bruins with an improbable last second win they probably didnt deserve, I take that as a good sign.

At least Drew is playing himself out of a qualifying offer.

Last inning is why Drew is still in the lineup. Great defense. Meanwhile, Wacha has made Xander look less than legendary in both ABs tonight.

The only thing there is to root for right now is to get Wacha's pitch count up over 100 by the end of the 6th inning, try to keep the game close, and hope they can handle the Cards' pen. They're not going to touch Wacha. Napoli's DP grounder killed their best and perhaps only chance. Why is Gomes in the game over Nava again?

Waste a lead off double. Disgusting. Difference between the two teams-- the Cardinals drove in their leadoff extra base hit. Napoli got way too anxious in his at bat. Wacha was a little nerved out there. Real missed opportunity. Then Drew blows the bunt opportunity. as much as I hate the bunt i liked it there because he's become an automatic out. Just fugly. Meanwhile Lackey is turning in an epic performance and all i'm getting from Fox is the michael Wacha highlight reel.

There wasn't much the team could have done in that situation. Pedroia at 2nd, Ortiz at 1st. Napoli can't really bunt nor should he really.
Swing away was the right move even though it didn't work out. Double plays are going to happen.
If Bogaerts was at 2nd and Ells at 1st with Victorino at the plate, yeah that may be a situation where you may want to bunt to avoid the DP. Victorino might even get on in that situation because he is a great bunter.
We're still one swing away from a tie game.

It would be nice to see a batter or two step out and disrupt the pitcher's rhythm.
