Anyone still want Middlebrooks to start over Drew?

The umpires sure have made their mark on the first 3 games of this series. As someone who considers themselves semi-purist, instant replay doesn't seem so bad when 6 people get to decide how a game ends.

Even so, Farrell is a dreadful manager.

Why didn't Farrell lose his shit there on Demuth? That guy is in the bag for St. Louis.

That was an AWFUL call. What the hell was Middlebrooks supposed to do? It was the right call. Obstruction doesn't have to be intentional. Tough way to lose.

Middlebrooks should have had Holliday's original double and should have easily caught that ball.

Who gives a shit if it was the right call. You don't let the umpires grant someone home plate to end a game

Middlebrooks should have had Holliday's original double and should have easily caught that ball. Agreed. Just an awful defender. What happened to all that athleticism? His range is virtually nonexistent.

Heck of a play by Pedrioia and Salty blows yet another game. Who wants to give him a qualifying offer now?

I hate Salty more than anything, but Joyce belongs in prison. I wish very bad things on him.

When will they ever stop throwing to the third base with the game being tied? They lost both games due to Breslow & Salty made the bonehead throw!! I wanted Farrell to tell them STOP THAT WAY!

I absolutely hate it but it was the right call and shame on the Sox (i.e. Salty) for getting into that situation.

Offensively and defensively, the Sox are for the best if they go into 2014 without Middlebrooks and Salty. I know Salty grades out as a solid catcher, but I'm praying for him declining a QO and moving on. As for 3B, I'm still a huge fan of retaining Drew and putting Xander at 3B, but I'm sure there are other superior options to WMB as well.
And let's face it, not having those auto-K / poor discipline guys in the lineup will relieve so much anger (and crappiness).

So stupid. Kozma was the next hitter scheduled up against Koji. Why gun the ball to 3b again? How totally stupid. I guess that's why the comatose Drew has to play SS. Cool, the Sox get to have two pitchers batting in a NL game. Oh, with Salty, make that 3 pitchers batting in a NL game. At least Victorino is good enough to get hit by a pitch. Wretched. The Sox could have won all three games of this Series. Instead Farrell's managing will mean that Dempster will be the one piggy-backing onto a shaky Buchholz start.
I had no problem with him going to Doubront today when it was obvious it was still a winnable game, but if you're going to go with him, commit to him, especially when he's pitching effectively. Don't burn out your bullpen like this. Now Doubront and Workman are unlikely to pitch tomorrow and if they do they're as unlikely to be as effective as they were today.
And I still can't believe Napoli never got an AB.

Tim Britton ?@timbritton 1m Farrell admits he should have double-switched when he brought Workman in, with Ross in the nine-hole.
You think?

What bothers me is that time after time we see Salty making bad decisions. The throw wasn't that bad. The decision to make the throw was less than intelligent. Over and over we see Salty making the wrong decision. To me, he just isn't a championship level player. Is he going to hit against top pitching...No. Is he strong defensively...No. We should be playing Ross.

I'd still rather see Bogaerts at SS and Mioddlebrooks at 3rd but Middlebrooks should have got that grounder and he still swings at bad pitches. Maybe we now see why Napoli is taking grounders at 3rd.
