Chris Johnson would be a great addition. He doesn't run over people but he can run by them. LOL... yes, he can, but only if he manages to make the first defender miss, i.e. almost never. Sorry but Johnson sucks. I would take him on a veteran minimum deal but someone is going to pay him for past performance.

Sorry but Johnson sucks. I would take him on a veteran minimum deal but someone is going to pay him for past performance. In an actual NFL offense with a real offensive line, I'd like to see what CJ2K can do. It's hard to make the first defender miss when he's in the backfield before you get the ball. All that said, I do agree that someone will over pay him and I don't want that to be that Pats. And I don't think they will.

PFT reports 49ers are in contract discussions with ... Brandon Lloyd. I remember that guy.

Dude was an olympic sprinter. When you're at that level in any sport, can you blame him for wanting to continue to pursue success in that sport and not put his body, especially his lower body, at risk playing on special teams? Given the choice between carrying him on the Pats' roster last season with a half-hearted commitment to football or having last season of LeGarrette Blount, I think the Patriots made the right call. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to have seen what Demps could do in a Patriots' uniform too but I think the Patriots ended up with the better end of that trade. He's a track star with some football skills not a football player with track speed.

Bradley Roby a talented CB from Ohio St got in some trouble at worst possible time with the draft days away. May be he drops ala Dennard and is value pick.
Also every damn mock draft has the Minnessota DT going to the Patriots so you know he won't be the pick.

That's nice. I'll save that for after the draft to see who they selected and/or signed as free agents to see if they are on the list.

The Schef reports Patriots in talks with TE Dustin Keller. Sounds good to me if they can get him on the cheap.

I'd take DK good pickup. He would be cheap.

If the Patriots draft a QB do you guys have any preference? I kind of like Tom Savage and Zach Mettenburger (LSU QB, I'm pretty sure I butchered that name).
I'm pretty sure the Patriots draft starts on Friday so we have time.

Cop out answer: Whichever guy drops a round from his projected target area.
Point being is that I think I only want them to draft a QB before the 4th round IF said prospect is such a great value that they can't avoid taking him.

According to Field Yates (via Mike Reiss), the Pats are signing Will Smith. I like it.

I agree that they don't need to draft a QB but if a guy like Zach Mettenberger is available in the 2nd/3rd round you have to consider it.
Another question to keep the conversation going... How about RB, do you guys think an early round pick on a RB would be wise? A lot of quality RB in this class and teams are moving away from taking them in the 1st round so in the 2nd/3rd round you could have quality available.

My problem with the QB class is that its all over the map. Even among the top analysts, there is significant variance in the value of most of these guys. I see some that have Mettenberger in the 2nd. Others in the 3rd. So is that really falling?
I wouldn't mind a RB but, again, I'm okay waiting as I think that position will drop.
I'd love to get out of the draft with a move TE, an interior lineman who can play C, a future NT (though run stuffing DT is probably the better term since they don't play much 3-4 base anymore) and a SS.
If a qb and rb can also be had . . . great.

I don't think RB is one position, it's at least two different positions. I would never draft a BJGE-type RB before the 5th round but I wouldn't mind drafting a Woodhead/Vereen-type RB in rounds 2-4. My problem with the QB class is that its all over the map. Even among the top analysts, there is significant variance in the value of most of these guys. All the better for us, because I trust BB on this sort of thing. If BB takes McCarron, who seems like a career backup to me, in the 2nd round, then I will change my mind about McCarron, not about BB.

Looking at the earlier list of visits Dri Archer is that type of guy.

Well this settles it, Mettenberger to the Pats in the 4th round ..... Assuming its just a little wacky tobacky, it shouldnt affect his stock to much, and I found it funny they mention the Cardinals as a team that might evaluate his differently, even though they got a steal last draft in The Honey Badger due to similar circumstances (I know there were other factors as well). Draft Day is here. I used to be so geeked up but the long wait has me burned out (and there are rumors Goodell wants to push it back even further next year . . . ASS).
Anyway, when even the number 1 pick is no certainty (still believe it will be Clowney but less confident it will be Houston taking him) it's impossible to guess what's happening at 29 (especially with the BB).
I do know one thing: the Pats will NOT select Rashede Hageman! Why, bc everyone seems to say they will and we know that never happens.
Some interesting rumors going around about the top of the draft (who's going where; who wants in and who wants out) and we all know some will end up bunk.
Very interesting stuff but with the likelihood that NE trades out (I feel this is the right call given the depth of the draft) of the 1st, I'm likely only going to keep tabs on my phone instead of sitting myself in front of the tube (if I force my wife to watch and they end up not picking, I'm sleeping on the couch for sure).

Yeah, the worst is when you stay up all night for their late-round pick and they trade it. Just awful. I've basically stopped watching the draft-- the aggravation of having to listen to Chris Berman babble aimlessly for three hours is too much.

My only option is Rich Eisen and Mike Mayock, so thanks for telling me that I'm not missing out.
