Danny Aiken among those cut/waived. Hope they don't go out and get another dedicated LS, such a waste of a roster spot. Ninkovich can do it, or have one of the backup linemen learn it. I couldn't agree more about the long snapper. I said before cuts to a friend of mine that with how BB values roster spots etc, I can't believe they don't have Nink long snap. It's certainly a very important job but it shouldn't be that difficult. The one thing I will say is I disagree it can be a backup lineman if you were referring to the OLine. The long snapper needs to run up the field during puts and tackle. It's not a job for Dan Connelly despite his kickoff return a few years ago. The one valid argument for having a specialist do it vs someone like Nink is practice is easier. But seriously figure it out. |

Third Quarterback is a waste of a roster spot (seriously, if your starter and top backup get knocked out, you're not competing for a Super Bowl anyway, so who cares whether you go 5-11 or 7-9) but man, a conditional 2016 7th-round pick is pretty disappointing.

Pick for Mallett looks like a conditional choice that will be a 7th unless he plays 40% of the snaps for Houston, which would make it a 6th

Anyway, Pats have signed a LS to the practice squad ... hopefully just as insurance. |
