LOVE Easley there. Disruptive DT.

Seriously, this dude is going to be an absolute monster at three-tech and will be a fine long-term replacement for Tommy Kelly. Elite first step, will be in the backfield at will, is going to destroy interior linemen on third down. Stick him and Armstead on third-and-long, combine them with a much-improved secondary, and the Patriots defense will hopefully get off the field better than they have in recent years.

I liked Tuitt better as an overall DT, but Easley certainly has some impressive tools. Can't wait to see how BB uses him.

I trust the Hoodie. And, more importantly in this case, I trust Dr. James Andrews.

Looks like this is going to play out quite nicely for the Texans. Clowney is a special player, and I'm still confused as to why Bridgewater's stock dropped so much. If they can walk away with both, that's a franchise altering draft IMO.
Add: and as soon as I hit reply the Vikings scoop the 32nd pick, has to be Bridgewater.
Jinxed the hell outta the Texans there, they have to be pissed. No way the can take David Carr's brother right?

Well let's talk Mallet, Texans.
Edit: I don't think there is anyway the Texans take Derek Carr. They do have a better offensive line than they did for his bother.

I thought Case Keenum played very well his first couple of games and didn't understand where things went wrong for him later in the season. Maybe O'Brien thinks he can fix him.
If they are counting on Ryan Fitzpatrick, they are going to be disappointed.
... A.J. McCarron?!?
BTW I think it is pretty ridiculous how NFLN is dedicating 80% of its coverage to Manziel but hasn't spent an entire sentence on Bortles in over 3 hours now. You'd think there might be something interesting to say about a QB drafted third overall.

He went to Jacksonville, they forgot about him. Depending on how you look at it it's good for him.
There are a bunch of QBs out there Carr, McCaron, Mettenberger, Garoppalo, Savage etc etc etc so maybe he think he can work with what he has and won't force the issue.

Rumored trade with Houston Mallet for 3rd round pick. I think Pats could take Quarterback with that pick.

I thought Case Keenum played very well his first couple of games and didn't understand where things went wrong for him later in the season. Maybe O'Brien thinks he can fix him. Keenum had zero pocket presence when under duress. Defensive coordinators figured that out quickly and he was exposed. Bad decision making, took a number of bad sacks. The Texans don't have a long-term solution at QB currently on their roster.

I watched quite a bit of tape on Easley, and it tempered my enthusiasm somewhat. That first step still looks great, and he plays with a lot of energy and tenacity, but he's not a terribly well-rounded player.
For instance, he's a boom-or-bust run defender who will make some highlight tackles-for-loss but will also play with poor gap discipline. He struggles to stack and shed and loses track of the ball-carrier pretty regularly, which leads to a lot of plays where he gets into the backfield but the runner just goes around him and hits the gap that he just vacated. He's definitely a one-gap-only guy-- while there are some instances where he holds up pretty well against double-teams, he just lacks the size and vision to two-gap efficiently, and forcing him into a read-and-react scheme takes away his best trait (his quick first step). You hear a lot about his versatility, but while he lined up at a lot of different spots, he pretty much did the same thing at all of them-- penetrate and get up the field.
But he's a hell of a pass-rusher whose college production undersells how disruptive he can be on an every-down basis. He has strong and violent hands and keeps good leverage, with his relatively short height helping him get under offensive linemen and walk them right back into the QB. His two main moves-- a speed rush and a bull rush-- play to his strengths, as he has a great getoff but also the ability to transfer speed-to-power.
However, at this point, he's mostly a straight-line rusher who can be neutralized by blockers who are smart, quick, and strong enough to cut off his first move and anchor (that's easier said than done, of course). He's got the same surprising power that other undersized defensive lineman like Geno Atkins and Aaron Donald have, but he lacks their overall athleticism. For instance, for a guy with such a great first step, his closing burst can be pretty mediocre, and he doesn't flash much lateral agility. He still tries to go through guys rather than go around them, and he doesn't have any of the feints and hesitation moves that undersized guys need to have to win against bigger, stronger opponents.
But that's a pretty minor criticism considering he came out as a true underclassman (no redshirt year) who missed basically an entire season due to injury. He still has incredible untapped potential, and he has as high an upside as any interior defensive lineman in the draft. Assuming the medicals check out, I think it's a very good pick.

Holy crap, this is awesome. Leaked scouting report of Johnny Manziel. deadspin.com/leaked-internal-scouting-report-the-patriots-do-not-li-1574040417On his family: From the vibe of online articles, father seems a little too involved and overstepping his boundaries. Vibe on this guy keeps getting worse. Support staff members are sick of him and ready for him to go. Described as a cocky, me-guy. Loves football, FBI is high as well. Everything has been pretty well-documented in online articles about the kid, but sources say he’s a spoiled brat (grandfather gives him allowance, father bought him luxury car). Comes from ‘outlaw bloodlines’, mom moved the family to Kerrville to get away from father’s wild family. Father’s family is said to be very shady people, always into something, they are the root of Johnny’s personality. On his psyche: Couple of TXTC sources say can’t yell/scream at him or he shuts down; has walked away from Kingsbury in the past. On his work ethic: Doesn’t study the game, said to know about 60% of the offense in ’12, never watches film; one source said only time he watched film during ’12 was before ALUN. Knows how to scheme the system, arrogant and full of himself, but he’s not smug to coaches. Has been like this since Day 1, has never gone to class, goes to beat of own drum, but has ultimate confidence. On how his teammates view him: Teammates don’t dislike him, but there’s some resentment, more so in the offseason when he isn’t coming to workouts and they are busting their butt.

Interesting stuff. Really highlights how much the public doesn't know about the draft process for all teams. This reads like an FBI dossier with all the inside sources it cites.

Dammit, apparently that deadspin thing is fake. That's pretty crazy. Not surprising at all. Patriots run a really tight ship, so that this kind of thing leaking is really unlikely (and they are too classy to leak stuff intentionally).

Probably easy to figure out as he didn't go to Texas Tech and wasn't coached by Kingsbury.
But there wasn't one word in that whole fake article that I believe is inaccurate.
I'm still pissed that he only received a 1/2 game benching for all his antics, yet they can suspend Dez Bryant an entire year for going to a party. Then he blatantly runs it in by doing the Johnny Football show me the money horse$h!t he always pulls.
The NCAA is a joke.
