Third bunt that I know of for Herrera. Definitely good at that part of the game. Unfortunately...

Maybe when the Sox were looking at Herrera they saw he could bunt and they had a "Eureka" moment. That's about it. That was not a good trade overall.

So that's what Joe Maddon thinks of AJ.

Last 21 year old to get an IBB not batting 8th in the NL?
Duh, sure it's Trout.

Just a reminder:
Jeff (Boston) Rubby De La Rosa gets the call this weekend? Thoughts on him long-term? Klaw (2:37 PM)
Number one/two type stuff if he can hold up and show better fastball command.

This is the De La Rosa I watched when he was with LA. Love that trade.

So what happens when RDLR, Workman and eventually Webster are better than Buchholz, Peavy and Doubront?

Rubby is rockin! Love his pace. He's fun to watch. I really hope he's up for good.

Maybe when the Sox were looking at Herrera they saw he could bunt and they had a "Eureka" moment. That's about it. That was not a good trade overall. I think it was a good enough trade - nothing special on either end. Morales has been pretty terrible and didn't really have a spot on this team. This was before Dempster retired, but even after that the spot was easily filled by Capuano. Herrera has been terrible this year, but it is in 50 really sporadic plate appearances. He'll never be a super star, but the team really needed middle infielders with options to move up-and-down as needed. Those guys add a kind of value that doesn't always show up through advanced metrics by giving the team the flexibility to do other things.

Peavy is in the last year of his deal. Doubront could be headed to the pen at some point. Clay maybe they leave in the minors for a bit until he figures stuff out but I think Clay will come back and be good again. He has been very up and down in his career and he has bounced back from this type of stuff before.

I love seeing Bradley's bat coming around. I hope he keeps it - and I think he will.

This is a dream come true start for RDLR, 7K's no walks only three hits. It's early yet, but this is so encouraging. I know the Tampa offense is dogcrap, but still.

Just as an aside. When people like beat writers make statements to pull eyeballs, it's incitement, not insight. The idea that the Sox have a system that can't deliver help to the ML team is pure horseshit.
