Since I am from Wisconsin I'm rooting for us to draft him!

Here we go. Might not be the top prospects, but I love the marathon day 3 session. I'm a true draft junkie.

Here we go. Might not be the top prospects, but I love the marathon day 3 session. I'm a true draft junkie. Given how the top candidates have been much more thoroughly picked over and the number of other clubs also playing the save-money-in-the-top-10-to-try-for-tougher-signs-later game, I'd be very surprised if any of those top 100 players were available by the time the Sox make their first pick 29 players in.

Picks will come quickly, probably one every 15 minutes or so.

Another point is that even though they may not be top 100 prospects now, the high schoolers at this point in the draft can easily become top 100 prospects in a few years, whether or not they are in a farm team or in college for those years. I consider these to be lottery tickets with minimal risk and a potential for a good return.

Top 500 guys getting drafted now. MLB is the only draft in the world where teams look for the bad players to pick before the good ones. Talk about a backwards system

Whitson turned down $2.1mm from SD, then had an injury-plagued career at Florida. He is expected to go pro.

Was he the one that didn't sign because he found out he had diabetes?

Very interesting pick. Will he sign for post-10th slot money?

In the 11th round, Red Sox select Karsten Whitson, RHP. Former 1st round pick. Well -- so much for my concept of the low-hanging ripe fruit being plucked early. These guys must REALLY be seen as slim-to-no-chance of being signed.

Was he the one that didn't sign because he found out he had diabetes? No, that was Dylan Covey (MIL, 14th pick, 2010).

Very interesting pick. Will he sign for post-10th slot money? I believe so. He participated in Florida's senior day activities as a redshirt junior.
