Dare I say JBJ prevented both those runs.

Dare I say JBJ prevented both those runs. No he was playing way to far out of place to even field them couldn't you see that... lol

This plate umpire is inconsistent pitch to pitch. And by inconsistent I mean awful.

I am very encouraged by the solid outing from de la rosa today.
Maybe the offense comes out of hibernation for these last two innings.

Tazawa a bit overrated in my opinion. he has been average at best this year. blows another one.

Tawaza has has on a downward slide.
Why does not Farrell know this!

That's baseball. A bunch of dinkers for the Cards nets a run, and Cespedes gets on the same way. Two scorchers from Nava and Bogaerts? Right at the outfielders.

I am very encouraged by the solid outing from de la rosa today. Maybe the offense comes out of hibernation for these last two innings. I liked the results, but three walks, only three strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.5 aren't exactly a recipe for sustained success. Still, he was able to escape trouble with no/minimal damage a couple of times today and deserves credit for that.

Tawaza has has on a downward slide. Why does not Farrell know this! That downward slide was greased by midgets tonight. Those barely registered as hits. That is the way it goes sometimes.

I'm happy to help other teams win and I'm sure they are happy to help us lose.

Decent start by Rubby. He and Ranaudo have been the rocks so far. Someone needs to pick it up here.

Why didn't Farrell know his second-best reliever was going to blow the game there?!
I've had a lot of issues with Farrell this season, particularly his bullpen usage. But using Tazawa in a tie game in the eighth inning is not something he should be getting grief for. However, I will criticize Farrell for having brought Tazawa into nine games so far this year where the Red Sox were trailing or leading by at least four runs. He's pitched in 51 of the team's 112 games, so being fatigued would be understandable.
EDIT: My other thought: De La Rosa has been wonderful, one of the real pleasant surprises on this team. However he does seem to have one inning in nearly every start where his control wobbles. Usually it's the first but tonight it was the fourth. It doesn't appear to be an issue of him pitching from the stretch, since his numbers with runners on are better than with the bases empty. Anyway it's a small thing, and the fact that he seems to be able to make adjustments within his starts is something that has impressed me quite a bit. I had him pegged as a reliever going into the season and I'm very, very happy to admit I was wrong on that one.

Nice Ruby-effort and a good team would grind out a win for him. This year they just aren't good enough.
Good for AJ just sticking his bat out there. I recall a few times that would have worked for the RS too, but no.

Agree there. He has been over using Taz all season. They need to be careful with him and i fear his use is going to be even worse with Miller now gone. Team isn't going to the PO, save his arm for next year and don't risk blowing it out (again). As of now they have -0- proven relievers under contract for 2015, except for Taz. Now is the time for them to be using others.
Why I expected for them to have called up Hembree, who at least throws low-mid 90's and is capable of getting MLB hitters out it appears over Layne. He needs a good, long look these last 2 months as a possible 6-7th inning guy.

This was a game good Red Sox teams would have won. This isn't a good team, yet.

They have a lot of work to do rebuilding not just the starters but also the pen without Miller. It must be hard for Cespedes to go from Oakland to this last place team.

Ryan Hannable ?@ryanhannable 42s Red Sox announce Shane Victorino will undergo surgery on his lower back today in Los Angeles by Dr. Robert Watkins. Likely ends season. I think Watkins is considered the premier expert in back surgeries; he did Peyton Manning's neck surgery, for an example.

Decent start by Rubby. He and Ranaudo have been the rocks so far. Someone needs to pick it up here. I agree that Rubby has been good, but it's a stretch to say that Ranaudo is a "rock." He's made one good, but not Rubby-versus-the-Rays-esque, start.

Good luck. I don't see that happening. If this injury becomes something chronic though it does add credence to the notion that in any deal with the Cardinals, we should have been targeting that team's compensatory draft pick - instead of a guy who merely creates a logjam at two positions, first and left field.
