Time to voice your vote on the 2014 Community Red Sox prospect rankings. You know the drill - rank your top 40 Red Sox prospects. Criteria for rankings should be your opinion of each prospect's "expected value" at the big league level, not solely based on ceiling, and not necessarily for the Red Sox. We're not going to set any strict guidelines as to how you should rank prospects, except that we do ask that you follow one rule - please only vote for eligible prospects and do not exclude players from eligibility based on your own criteria. Every player listed on the Team Rosters page is eligible EXCEPT the following players: Burke Badenhop , Xander Bogaerts, Jackey Bradley, Craig Breslow, Clay Buchholz, Rusney Castillo, Yoenis Cespedes, Allen Craig, Ivan De Jesus, Rubby De La Rosa, John Ely, Jonathan Herrera, Brock Holt, Kelly Johnson, Joe Kelly, Ryan Lavarnway, Mike McCoy, Will Middlebrooks, Edward Mujica, Mike Napoli, Daniel Nava, David Ortiz, Dustin Pedroia, Ryan Roberts, David Ross, Brandon Snyder, Junichi Tazawa, Koji Uehara, Jose Valdez, Christian Vazquez, Shane Victorino, Brayan Villarreal, Allen Webster, Jemile Weeks, Alex Wilson, and Brandon Workman. For the avoidance of doubt:
Christian Vazquez, Alex Wilson, and Rusney Castillo are NOT ELIGIBLE.
We have determined that Vazquez and Wilson are likely to graduate from prospect status in the coming weeks, and used our discretion when determining that Castillo will not be considered a prospect.
Meanwhile, Mookie Betts and Tommy Layne are ELIGIBLE for this vote, even though there is a chance they will graduate before the end of the season.

Mookie Betts and Tommy Layne are ELIGIBLE for this vote, even though there is a chance they will graduate before the end of the season. Mookie's 31 AB from graduating with 23 games left, while steadily collecting 3 to 5 per game. You'd have to call that an excellent chance of graduating before the voting closes. You might want to decree now that folks don't need to renumber their entire lists if he does -- just add a 41st guy at the bottom. |

We purposefully decided that we wanted Betts included in the final community tally, even if he graduates.
If people want to vote to #41, I'm fine with it. The numbers will still flush out a #41 either way.
