At least Barnes has command of his fastball and some MPH. That makes him a better prospect than virtually every other prospect starter we have short of RDLR and Owens. Give the guy some time to develop better off speed stuff. Even just a good cutter could make a huge difference. Eduardo Rodriguez should be above Barnes too, but agree otherwise You are probably right but I just can't bring myself to think the Orioles would trade that kind of value for a short term rental of Miller. Maybe they just didn't see him being that good OR they just were desperate to win this year. They didn't trade that kind of value for a short term rental. They traded that kind of value for an improved chance of advancing in the playoffs, there's a difference.

Also, Rodriguez has been a vastly improved pitcher since the trade. It's possible that the Sox cleaned something up.
