Allen Craig should just go home to his wife or something and come back in April.

I guess it's understandable when the seeming directive is to get the best draft pick possible.

The Sox will have to open their wallets in the off season. The present pitching staff will wear out the bullpen by June. The know it alls that were agreeing to let Lester ( and defensing JH) go did not bother to think about the importance of a pitcher that can pitch very deep into the game. Lackey could do this when he was on his game. Both are gone. The Sox will have to chase Shields even thought he is 33 now and will cost close to what they would be paying Lester. They will have to give him about 3 or 4 years. You need to look at value not just in terms of dollars but in terms of what that person brings to the team and whether there are replacements. Lester brought more to the team than a guy who pitched very fifth day, and they did not have any replacements. Go eat a banana and put whip cream on it. Not fair and you have to look at it in historical reference with how teams have gone about replacing 4/5 of a rotation with pretty much rookie pitchers, or with guys who have 1y (or on ly that in Kelly) of MLB service. Teams don't expect 4 non seasoned kids to step right up and throw 6-7IP every time out on the mound. This isn't 1970 and even THEN they didn't with youngsters every time their 1st run through. It is probably why, for the time being at least Workman is going to be utilized as a long reliever and it wouldn't surprise me to see Webster used that way either if they don't sign any big name starter who is capable of throwing a large amount next season.

I guess it's understandable when the seeming directive is to get the best draft pick possible. No, he just lost track of the out, just like you might lose track of what day it is. Except he's probably being paid a lot more than you are not to do shit like that.

Unreal: WMB 0-18 singles/rbi (Holt is sick).

The team must have decided not to tank, just for one night of course. And how about those kids?

Very good crowd considering...glad they exit happy.
Have to see the replay of the Ortiz grounder to 2b: poorly handled.

Call me crazy but I rather have Cespedes, Betts and any of the other prospects that would go for Stanton or any Left Fielder not named Manny Ramirez. Just waiting for the spreadsheet mafia to tell me why I'm wrong now.

I'm going to break down his career bases empty / RISP, starter / reliever, and leverage splits tomorrow. They're kind of insane, and they're changing my mind about how good a player he is (in the positive direction).

Unreal: WMB 0-18 singles/rbi (Holt is sick). Willy Mo Middlebrooks best find the glass slipper before spring training or he is toast.

I'm mildly annoyed that Cespedes is hitting ahead of Napoli. Not only is Napoli probably the better hitter, but you almost always want to hit the on-base guy ahead of the power guy.

I'm mildly annoyed that Cespedes is hitting ahead of Napoli. Not only is Napoli probably the better hitter, but you almost always want to hit the on-base guy ahead of the power guy. Theories: Farrell put Mike Carp in the cleanup spot after a walk off hit, which was far more outrageous; Cespedes may be a scarier batter to face for pitchers in that he will almost always get his hacks in, while Nap can get cheated at times by being a touch too passive. The possible ripple effect being that Ortiz gets better pitches to hit; if given the choice of Cespedes or Napoli to be put into a key situation when the team needs a hit, I would pick Yoenis.
