Sox taking it real slow with Rusney. Has only played 2 games in the outfield since coming back, and only 1 of them in right field

He's 1-1 though. My bigger concern is him hitting. Even if he's injury prone, I'd like the peace of mind knowing he can swing it when healthy.

Rusney now 2-2. With the lineup struggling, when do they consider bringing him up?

^The sad thing is Victorino is on his way back and is supposedly gonna rejoin the team Monday in Oakland.

OK, can we please bring up either JBJ or Castillo and end this Victorino/Craig Charade? Vic can be a platoon guy/back-up OF if/when he gets healthy and Craig can spend some time back in the bus league getting regular at bats to rebuild a semblance of trade value. Oh, and the MLB club, which is the priority here, will get better right away.

Can't see us eating Vic or Craig's contracts this early in the season. A couple of good months in AAA won't kill JBJ. He'll play everyday. Would sit if our OF is Hanley-Mookie-Rusney.

Farrell/Cherington need that Belichick cut-throat attitude. You gotta put your best team out on the field, i know its a long season but it could be a difference of a game or two at the end of the season.
My biggest fear is that Victorino comes up and hits "a little bit" and thats enough to keep him there.

Can we please at least bring Rusney up? Time for Vic to go or send Craig to AAA.

Can we please at least bring Rusney up? Time for Vic to go or send Craig to AAA. Why not Nava? With all RHH's starting in the outfield and first base, having a LHH with a career OPS around .800 vs. RHP is more valuable than a guy like Victorino who can't hit a lick against them. And with Castillo being plenty athletic enough to transition into being a solid defender in right field (and Mookie exceeding expectations in center), the need to hang onto Vic for defensive purposes lessens. ADD: And before someone asks, yes, I do believe Nava is a better hitter than Holt vs. RHP.

Nava is such a streaky hitter, i mean you could probably say that about everyone but i mean hes 2 for his last 32. Last year he did the same thing, out to an atrocious start. But he had options then.

Farrell has wasted all this time trying to get Craig going, but has done nothing to get Nava going. Why was Craig in the lineup last night against a RHP for example? And then later in the game, he pinch hit Nava for Craig against a RHP.

^Probably has to do with Craig being owed 26+ million(2018 buyout included). Think they are trying to get him going so they can trade him without swallowing that whole contract.

Right if they think Nava who was 2 for his last 31 going into last night was the difference maker. They put him up in a big spot last night, bases loaded 1 out down 1 against a guy hes had success against and he laid an egg.

I get that this conversation started organically from JBJ and Castillo having hit well today, but let's not let this turn into yet another "Allen Craig and Shane Victorino suck" conversation given that this is supposed to be a minor league gameday thread, please.

Back on track, do you think the Paw Sox keep Couch in a starting role? He looks really outmatched but with Barnes moving to the bullpen and nobody in Portland looking ready i dunno who would take his spot, outside of MAYBE Workman.

There is no guarantee that JBJ or Castillo would be better than Craig or Victorino but now would be a good time to find out as far as I'm concerned. If they really want to fix this team maybe they should consider trading at least one of our outfielders. 2 of our best are in AAA ( maybe even 3 if you count Brentz).

Jantzen Witte now has 33 hits on the year, 9 more then anyone else on the team. Not sure if that speaks more to how good hes been or how mediocre the rest of the roster is.
