This is probably where the senior signs start.

My guess is that Rusconi is the first player picked with an underslot deal. I see Benintendi, Rei and Matheny all going for slot or close to it. amfox knows a lot more about this stuff than I do, but I think we'll save a couple hundred thousand on Benintendi and Rusconi goes for close to (though maybe slightly below) slot.

This seems like the range Red Sox typically take some of their favorite under the radar targets, Betts and Ockimey stand out. I remember reading something somewhere about how the Red Sox bumped Betts up to the 5th round range to basically guarantee he was available.

I guess Espinoza and Acosta were the high end pitchers for 2014/15, other than Kopech last year. usually the Sox take at least 1 each year, but now it's looking like it won't happen, unless there is some senior they can grab for dirt cheap.

We've developed a new strategy on starting pitching. Just throw any schmuck in the rotation and say he's one of five aces. Who needs upside?

Maybe the Sox snag Shumpert in this round, they just didn't want to show up Mookie.

Should see one tougher sign around pick 11. Senior signs would free up a little over 1 million in pool money for picks 6 through 10. Add the $300,000 5% and that's a fair chunk of money to get an arm for $800,000 +.

Rickard's first two picks appear to be helium type guys. We need a definition of Helium. In my opinion, helium guys are like Josh Naylor; guys who were on the radar for a certain spot, but in the days prior to the draft they shoot up and end up getting picked really high. Beninteni is not a helium guy. Sure, he came out of nowhere this season, but a big part of that was because a lot of people didn't know he was draft eligible. He has been mocked to go exactly where he did for a month. Helium doesn't last a month. Also, I'm pretty sure that the triple crown winner in a major conference and the National College Player of the year can't be considered a helium guy. Kolbrin Vitek.

Theres no guarantee that we see a run of senior signs. They didn't really do that last year with the exception of Cole Sturgeon in Round 10.

Everyone who rises up the draft board is a bust? Sounds reasonable.

Yeah...so he wasn't helium either. In fact, he dropped in the draft. Try again. Edit: We would have accepted Reymond Fuentez, however.

How do we not know that Josh Naylor was a top 30, or even a top 15 pick on many other teams boards?
