I'm super worried about future #5 starter Henry Owens pitching in game 3 because he isn't a power pitcher.

Not sure if Betts is ready, but with this big field it would be nice to see a Betts, JBJ, Rusney outfield. Hanley looks like he could use a few days rest. Well, he looks like he's resting most of the time, but his bat is catching up with his fielding and base running for the total bad package.

Hopefully this is Kelly's last start At this point it makes sense to keep him in the rotation for another month. Nobody is there to take his place in the rotation, and he does have upside however unlikely it is that he reaches it. If he keeps being atrocious they can convert him in September.

I'd argue that it makes more sense to put Masterson in the #5/swingman role and see what Kelly can show in the bullpen in a short role.

How many times through the rotation are left? Maybe 10? If the point of the rest of the season is to evaluate for next year, people should be in the role they might help the team next year. If the Red Sox think Kelly might still be a starter next year then they have a different problem.
And before anyone tells me how unlucky he's been, he has a 4.30 FIP this year and he's never gotten to 130 innings any year in his career. He is 27. He's been unlucky, but he also hasn't been good.

Aro is killing it in Pawtucket. We should get him some more experience now that we're in garbage time and he can't be worse than what we have in our pen now.

Wade David and Andrew Miller are two guys similar to Kelly before they became 2 of the best relievers in the league. High potential top of the rotation starter profile that just could never put it all together as a starter. Not saying Kelly is guaranteed to be a dominate reliever, but he just hasn't shown any statistical reason why he should be starting. Now is the perfect time to be using him out of the bullpen in high leverage situations.

That Hanley double is more like it. I don't think a human being could hit a ball harder than that right there.

Fill in the blanks: This team would be _______ without Big Papi. In case anyone was wondering, the solution is "better against lefties".

Nibble, nibble, nibble. Kelly has the swing-and-miss stuff but he seems afraid to throw strikes.

Kelly is so much better when teams swing at everything.
5 Ks in 1 2/3 innings is pretty good. Make that 6 in 2 innings. Pedro-like.

Kelly has 6 k's in 2 innings. Sox have a 2 run lead and I can't get over the feeling this is another L. Love to be wrong again.
