Some of the Ground Rules are applied loosely in here, as we understand that there is a tendency to want to react (or overreact) to every play of a Sox game with one line reactionary posts. Those posts are okay in the Red Sox Series threads to a point - we certainly appreciate the passion. Just try not to overdo it, and try to maintain some semblance of reason. Guarantee you they win one game, and it's Saturday.

With the two off days, they could have done this (days rest in paren):
Miley (5) Owens (5) has the advantage of not pitching on 6 days rest, which may be too much Kelly (8) has the advantage of moving him a day behind Barnes at Pawtucket instead of a day ahead, which would make it possible for Barnes to take the 5th starter job in case they want to move Kelly to the pen before Porcello returns; and had they planned this in advance, they could have used him in relief on Tuesday or Wednesday
Or, since Miley is his career has been better at day than at night, and better on 6 days rest than 5, they could have gone Owens, Miley, Kelly.
This sort of optimization seems utterly routine to me, but Farrell almost never does it.

Good start.
Hopefully Kelly lets the Mariners get ahead big early, so I can root for the offense and young guys alike without having to worry about us accidentally winning.

What happened to Rusney that he's been taken out of the game? Going to ask the same question. No TV.....just watching the box score. Why has De Aza taken his place??

Castillo fouled ball off the top of his foot, missing ankle protector, and was hobbling. DeAza to LF, Bradley to RF.

He fouled a ball of his leg. Finished the at-bat. Probably removed as a precaution.

Castillo fouled a ball off his left foot. For those wondering if Hanley would be a bad influence on the youngsters ...

Is it too early to wonder if Travis Shaw could be, if no more, a valuable utility player and bat off the bench? If he can play 1B, 3B, and LF passably well, he becomes a very valuable commodity. With Betts, JBJ, and Castillo all on the roster, even if one of them is hurt or needs a day off the other two can handle CF and RF at least reasonably well, so a 4th OF, for right now, only needs to play LF.
