Days like today really do make me think of what could have been for this season. You can sense that the kids are turning a corner and if the vets played well, you can see why people thought so highly of this team. Alot of good opinions on what to do to fix the Sox, but I am in the corner of working on the pitching side of it. I think next year the lineup and the defense will be above league average. Mostly, it makes me think of what could be next season. If the FO stays out of its own way, they could actually be pretty good.

Two guys beat me. Xander will adjust when the pitchers do. He's doing fine. I wasn't implying that he couldn't. It's just insane how many hits he has gotten to right. It definitely looks like a skill to me. Dave O'Brien was suggesting at the beginning of the game that Bogaerts was intentionally focusing on figuring out how to get hits - really, being a professional hitter - and once he's mastered that he'll work on adding the power. If that's his approach it is remarkably mature, and impressive that he's been able to accomplish it. Really, the way he's taken last year's weaknesses - his defense, and hitting balls on the outer half - and willed them into strengths is rather incredible. Pretty excited to see what he does next year...

I'd be surprised if there wasn't something broken near Sandoval's elbow.
Add: Guess this is the other Feliz Hernandez today.
Add2: I do believe Bradley's BABIP luck has turned.
Add3: The Kids Are All Right.

Some team has to need De Aza down the stretch if he keeps hitting like this, right?

I don't think I've ever seen Felix struggle this much with his command. Missing all over the place, in the zone as well as out.

JBJ is now an above average hitter for the season. 102 wRC+

It is weird to think that JBJ has as many HRs as Bogaerts.

Despite 15 runs yesterday, didn't exactly think the Sox would get anywhere near half of that vs. Felix today, let alone tag him for 9+ in under 3 innings. The M's are a mess

This sure is fun to watch. 24-3 in the last 11+ innings helps the season run differential.
Speaking of that, the Blue Jays have 8 fewer wins than they should according to Pythagen. They are +139.

Folks can worry about draft picks all they want. The last two days have been fun for me.
Sox just tossed the king off his throne, to the out house.

Hernandez's average FB speed this year according to thebaseballcube is 92.12 but he only threw a handfull of FBs at 92 and none higher. Most of his pitches were in the mid to high 80s. His command was terrible, also. If I were a Seattle fan I would be worried.

JBJ is now an above average hitter for the season. 102 wRC+ His subpar defense is really hurting his WAR numbers though...But seriously tho - he's still only doing it on the back of a .264 BABIP. So that's pretty neat.

Yeah, but as amazing it was that he remade himself completely between his 21 year old and 22 year old seasons, I can't wait to see the adjustments he makes now that he has established the contact portion of his game (not to mention, the making himself an above average defensive SS). He'll he's going to be a 3.5-4.0 WAR player already, can't wait to see what comes of him as he continues to improve.

Xander is taking what pitchers are giving him, adjusting, and will likely finish T10 in the AL BA. Plus he's improved dramatically on defense. The fact that he's only 22 is kind of mind blowing given the adjustments he seems to have made in less than a season

Definitely improved from last year. Really has to start working counts more though. And starting to drive the ball is going to take a major adjustment too, one that I expect he'll try to make next year.

They've got to be ducking under the bench in the Mariners bullpen so they won't be seen at this point.

I'm am 100% he will try to add those adjustments to his game and he will do it successfully.

And yes I know how bad that makes Hanley and Panda look, but I've never seen a guy with 19 HR's called a slap hitter. Edit, used and meant or.
