Betts/JBJ/Castillo would be my ideal OF ASAP with the decision on which guy plays center secondary. Shaw may be playing his way on to the 2016 opening day roster at 1B, which is truly surprising. With the emergence of JBJ, or at least the signs of life, I'm really aboard the get Hanley to 1B train, with days at DH, etc. I'd hate to see JBJ traded unless it was part of a package to get a stud back, if only because I take such entertainment of his defense (though Mookie has started to make some of "those" plays too). I just don't know what you do if you have Hanley, JBJ, Mookie, and Castillo, and you aren't willing to play Hanley at 1B I feel the same way about JBJ's defense that I did with Iglesias....JBJ is so confident and catches with such ease that its fun watching him flag even routine balls. Seeing young guys come up and play scintillating defense (a rarity for the historically lumbering Sox) is as exciting as seeing one bang out three ropes. Players today are seemingly much more athletic. I'm glad that we have had our share of those guys recently and can participate in that kind of fun.

The kids defensive OF being currently looked at the last few days could give the Sox probably the best potential outfield defensively since the mid-late 70's when Yaz, Lynn and Evans roamed Fenway's OF together. Another thing is am thinking Bradley's arm is comparable to Evan's after seeing him make a couple from the warning track to the IF several times this year, all on the fly. IMO his arm is Evans-like.

Wright to the 7 day concussion Dl after getting hit by a.ball in batting practice. If Porcello is not back to take that spot it's gotta be Barnes getting the call up, right? Pretty much no one else left.
I guess we'll see if Barnes is scratched today. Wright's turn in the rotation is Monday.

I was checking JBJ numbers on Fangraphs and he's apparently on pace for a -3.4 runs/150 per UZR hahaha!

That's pretty terrible timing with Brian Johnson and Keith Couch also on the DL and the PawSox set to play a doubleheader today where game 2 was already supposed to be a bullpen game. The only good news is that they can have E-Rod pitch game 1 against the Tribe thanks to the off-day. Still, if Barnes and Porcello both pitch today then they would have to go on 2 day's rest. I give Robbie Ross higher chances of getting the spot start than either of them. But honestly it looks like a waiver claim or a cash deal for a replacement-level starter is on the books. Too bad the Padres already signed Bud Norris.

Garin Cecchini is in #RedSox' clubhouse. Awaiting roster move.
Where did you get your info, soxcentral? Haven't seen it confirmed anywhere.

soxcentral you must have it right. I'm at Pawsox double header and Rich Hill is now starter for game 1.

Castillo, or Hanley, must be going on the DL.

Castillo, or Hanley, must be going on the DL. Why? Cecchini is up for Wright, and will go back down for Barnes in a couple days. Not that I'd be against a little DL stint for Hanley. Hopefully Rusney can get back in there tomorrow, though.

That must be Xander's 50th weak ground ball single between 1B and 2B this year. I wonder when teams will start shifting him like Papi.

The difference between Xander and Papi is when they make the adjustment on him ,he will counter that. This is why he is special and when he incorporates power with this ,Watch out!

Two guys beat me. Xander will adjust when the pitchers do.
He's doing fine.

No action on Hernandez' changeup (yet). They should keep it going.

That was absolutely smoked by Bradley. I'm starting to think he might actually be turning into an average hitting OF at minimum, at which point he's a potential superstar who will be underpaid. Rusney/Betts/JBJ in the OF might be feasible and could be the best defensive OF in the majors with good offense to boot

JBJ may just have hoisted himself over the Mendoza line, hopefully not to return anytime soon. Up to .213 with his HR today. Go JBJ.

Power from X would be nice, but he looks like at minimum a very good pure hitter at the plate, which at this point last year a lot of people questioned if that would even be possible. His adjustments have been remarkable and leads me to believe that once pitchers start coming back inside, his pull power will return. But if they're going to go away, away, away, poke one through the right side every time

Days like today really do make me think of what could have been for this season. You can sense that the kids are turning a corner and if the vets played well, you can see why people thought so highly of this team.
Alot of good opinions on what to do to fix the Sox, but I am in the corner of working on the pitching side of it. I think next year the lineup and the defense will be above league average.
