Liked what I saw from Hicks in that role. Consistency is obviously the key for him.

Blount being done may be addition by subtraction

Hopefully Denver loses next week and we wrap up a bye. It would be nice to shelf a lot of people week 17.

Blount being done may be addition by subtraction How so, you think Bolden is better?

Blount being done may be addition by subtraction How so, you think Bolden is better? Right now, yea, he may be. One of the biggest myths is that Blount is good in short yardage because he's big and strong but this couldn't be further from the truth. He's awful in this situation. He's so slow to get going and runs with a high pad level so he's easy to tackle until he gets a head of steam. I liked what I saw from Bolden last week in the run game. He added some pop. He's not going to bust a long run like supposedly Blount can, although he didn't once this year. Bolden also adds an element of pas catching that's not really there with Blount on the field. More importantly, I think it will increase the role of James White. White looks very good right now. It never ceases to amaze me how much faster the same players are once they get some confidence. Earlier White couldn't even turn the corner on and easy run that cost them a TD because he was too slow and not quick enough. Now he's got that speed/quickness. Hightower was this way his first year plus... Too slow etc then he got comfortable now he's got burst. Basically, Blount has sucked this year though. Just useless for the most part.

Time to rest the starter in the 2nd half. Did the Pats get a new coach?

Seems strange that Butler hasn't been covering Marshall.

Someone remind me why we cut KT. Well, he's 27, in his 4th year and has 66 career catches, 34 of them in the last 3 years. He also has more catches today than in his last 6 games combined. Don't think that will come back to haunt them.

What the hell just happened on the coin toss? Did the ref actually ask Slater if he wanted to kick?

I think they legit wanted to kick. Confusion was whether the Pats got to choose sides.

I can sort of see his reasoning, but I don't agree with it. The Jets are the 10th scoring offense in the NFL, I think he sort of underestimated them.

Since the NFL overtime rule changes, only 50.7% of receiving teams have gone on to win in overtime. I am unsurprised that Belicheck forfeited 1.4% of win probability in a game in which the offense largely sucked. It was the right decision in my mind.
Scary how different this game would have been with Mccourty and/or Chung back, Hightower healthy, and an offense with two receivers tailor made for getting open on tough third downs. Ryan got zero help over the middle on Marshall (Harmon was just bad yesterday), the Jets were able to gash NE up the middle with a hobbled Hightower, and Brady and his cast of practice squad warriors were 1/10 on third downs.

As some media types have written, I do wonder if BB factored a hit to Pittsburgh's playoff chances into his thinking.

I wouldn't underestimate this Jets team (or the Chiefs, for that matter). I don't think the Steelers are better enough than the Jets that it'd make sense to blow a game (and put home field throughout at risk).
