Is it wrong to long for a svelte third baseman? Is it wrong to ask for a replacement level third baseman? I hated the signing. But, if Tubby is embarrassed by his performance and gets in a little better shape. He can be average. I have no idea what Hanley can do as a baseball player except swing the bat. And, we don't need a DH. The Giants did win 3 titles in 5 years with Tubby at 3b. Hanley was a problem in Florida and LA. Now, he's a problem in Boston. I think he'd be the one I'd buyout. Like the Angels did with Josh Hamilton. Just move on.

What normally (seemingly "always") happens when a bad team gifts two runners to a good team late?

This is a little bit random, but right now Rusney's a better player than Hanley right? Actually I was thinking the exact same thing. Looking at his numbers, especially over the last month, l can't understand why he isn't playing more.

Do you think youk was svelte? No, but his waist was probably 10 inches smaller.

After speaking with multiple industry sources, Sean McAdam of CSN New England writes that four candidates for the Red Sox’ GM opening include former Braves GM Frank Wren, former Rockies GM Dan O’Dowd, former Angels GM/current Red Sox advisor Jerry Dipoto and Yankees assistant GM Billy Eppler. Wren has been oft-mentioned in the past few days, and O’Dowd has also popped up more recently in reports. Regarding Eppler, McAdam writes that he’s blocked in New York by Brian Cashman, and many expect him to land a GM job elsewhere this winter. But why are they looking at Wren? What's the argument in his favor? Is he just some old white guy Dombrowski is buddies with? Want Dipoto. Eppler intrigues.

Is it wrong to long for a svelte third baseman? Is it wrong to ask for a replacement level third baseman? Indeed. They've gone from a perfectly chiseled guy who somehow missed changeups at his knees by two feet to a fat guy who misses pitches by two feet because they are three feet over his head. For all those who are distressed that Dombrowski's hiring means that they've abandoned analytics... they signed Sandoval to to a $100 million deal last year! How much less analytical could they have gotten! Seriously, looking back over the Sandoval signing thread, I've never been so disappointed to have been right.

Do you think youk was svelte? Not svelte. But between Youk (barrel-chested?) and Pablo are several weight classes — A Few Extra LB's, Round, Portly, More Fat than Not. Maybe one or two more.

Was it said anywhere that bogaert wouldn't stick at ss? It's a shame that his work ethic doesn't rub off more on Hanley and Pablo. Maybe they should show up at Pedey's winter home to work out.

Several of you must not have read Edes' piece on Sandoval today in which he writes that Sandoval has been working on his weight and his mobility and that there are improvements in both.

I read it and don't really care. Let's revisit in spring training or better yet, send him packing. He needs to commit to baseball as his entire life, not just for a 3 week period or however long it has been. Or just retire when he's 32 after embarrassing himself for too long.

Is it wrong to long for a svelte third baseman? Is it wrong to ask for a replacement level third baseman? I have no problem keeping sandavol at 3rd base next year. Especially if we have shaw on the roster and we teach swihart to play first base.
