Wonder what the reason is that both Lovullo and Farrell seem to not like playing Castillo. I think this is s huge observation. Are we showcasing rameriez or Bradley or is there something else at play specific to Castillo? In my mind Castillo has earned more playing time, but two different managers have sat him quite regularly. Maybe there is nothing here and it is just a product of a too many bodies for three outfield positions.

Maybe they plan on trading Castillo already and are trying to keep his numbers up by playing him in spots where he can succeed most. Their evaluation may not be as high as originally projected and maybe they want to move him and get most of that cash back. Or maybe they want to see Hanley's numbers go up so they can move him next winter. It could be they are already planning to target another OF or whatever. It could be a lot of reasons.
Bradley seems like he has made a decent adjustment offensively. A much quicker bat. My sense is that the current trend line is not just luck. How many CF do we need? ( Bradley, Betts, and Castillo ). It would seem that one of those guys is going to go.

Which is depressing. Not to beat a dead horse, but one friggin pick away. What a game changer that could've been.

How is that not an error on Pablo?

How is that not an error on Pablo? I wondered about that as well. Veteran getting benefit of the doubt.

Wonder what the reason is that both Lovullo and Farrell seem to not like playing Castillo. Neither wants to deal with the fallout (in the clubhouse) of benching Ramirez, especially since his contract guarantees he's not going anywhere for a while. Doubt it's anything else, but someone in the organization needs to deal with this. There is good reason to believe Betts-Castillo-Bradley Jr. is a 10 to 12 WAR outfield, which would make it a significant strength. The Red Sox REALLY need to determine whether this is an illusion or a reality.

Mookie played four, Hanley played four, JBJ played four, and Castillo played three. Could very easily just be match ups.

All I know is that I'm enjoying the season now. It's not like 2012 when we were watching Scott Posednik and Pedro Ciriaco carry us down the stretch. wow man, when a man says he wants to be himself, it has nothing to do with rules or team expectations (I'll wait for you to jump on the weight part of that) or fan interaction. I read the same article, and I thought it meant that he could be himself in that locker room with the other personalities that were already established there, like David Ortiz or send interaction. I read the same article, and I thought id man that he could be him so now locker room with the other person audi that were already established there, like david ortiz or bogaerts,Hanley or even some sort of chili Davis connection I don't know. What I on normal human being, didn't take from it was "I want to be as fat as I can get' Some people don't want to be happy, I've watched in the last 3 weeks or so and seeing a different player proves to me that he didn't just want to get his money and start eating until he died which is what it feels like you are insinuating Pablo said he didn't want to be weighed, he wanted to be himself in the same sentence. How do you interpret that? I mean I hope he has finally seen the light and that he has to work a lot harder to stay in shape if he wants to stay in baseball past his early 30s, but 2-3 weeks isn't changing my mind that quickly.

I assume this was from the first inning? If he pitched the same way he did tonight every night, he'd be a fine starting pitcher. He had a lot of good pitches hit for singles and that last one for a HR. This isn't a kid throwing meatballs tonight.

For all the Hanley loathing (myself riding shotgun on that bandwagon) I can't remember anyone hitting so many laser beams right at people in a season.

Good to see Rusney back in there. I think the sox are doing the best they can with the Hanley situation. He's sitting a couple of games a week. Much like when Nap was still here, when he's healthy he has to play some or the repercussions will be wide spread. I want as much JBJ,Betts, and Rusney as possible. But the manager is doing well with what he has to deal with.

I personally believe that ERod's daytime struggles are just a coincidence because the sample size is nowhere big enough, but it's not good to hear that he is already thinking about it.

Yes, but, shouldn't the human highlight reel be playing in either RF or CF, especially in Fenway, where RF requires great routes or you'll get eaten up out there? Or (and maybe you stat freaks can speak to this in some way) overall (home and away), does LF get more action and require more acrobatics than RF because there are more RH batters than LH batters? Under any circumstances JBJ's arm seems wasted in LF unless your strategy is to try to keep anyone from scoring from 2B on singles to LF.

Panda has looked more mobile in the last couple of weeks. Hope he continues to work on that weight. He's been moving better and swinging better, but the haters are going to hate. Clay B is skinny so when he's quoted as saying his idea of eating better is cooking his burgers on the grill at home, instead of getting them at the fast food drive up, no problem.
