Shortstop is a much more premium position than center field (five run difference in positional adjustments), and I think Swanson's a better defender at SS than Benintendi is at CF. Agree that Benintendi is the better hitter and that the gap between them is much smaller now than it was when the draft occurred-- Benintendi's continued strong showing has mitigated some of the one-year-wonder risk that he was saddled with back in June. Fair enough. Ironically, however, I've seen Benintendi's glove get more plus reviews than Swanson at SS. Way too early to tell though. Benny did have a -2.5 FRAA in Greenville though in a small sample size. IIRC, Swanson played SS this year only, he was a 2nd baseman the year before, that leads me to think that his coaches in Vandy didn't thought he was good enough to start there when recruited (Arm maybe?) and I keep reading (KLaw, Mc Daniel etc) that Benny baseball is at least an average CFer. So I don't think that difference is that big with the glove. I'll take Benintendi over him if we re-do the draft.

I chuckle at the comments of these pages always about how the Red Sox gave up too much. The people on this page would have claimed that the Red Sox gave up too much when they traded Pavano and Armas for Pedro. I said the Sox gave up too much for Kimbrel. I also danced for joy the day they got Pedro. Literally. I danced around my apartment. There was almost nothing I was unwilling to give up for Pedro.

I love the "someone somewhere 20 years ago didn't want to give up prospects for player X and they were wrong, therefor it's always a good idea to trade prospects" argument. Everyone please keep making it.

Am I a huge homer for thinking Benintendi is a better prospect than Swanson, but just wasn't drafted #1 so is ranked lower? Benintendi strikes out less, has a lot more power, is just as fast and both are probably 55 defenders at premium positions. I know shortstop is a weaker hitting position than CF, but not enough to make Swason project as well as Benintendi does. I'd take Benny and footnote the possible bias. I'm also back peddling on my pre draft comments of how we should of went for Fulmer instead of Benintendi.

Had a good chuckle at the FG headline: "Diamondbacks Pay for Ace, Get Shelby Miller". I dont think the "Ace" part of the headline was referring to Miller. I think it was meant to read "D'backs pay for ace (Greinke), get (trade for) Shelby Miller".

Astros have made George Springer available. I'd give up Owens + JBJ + Devers for him, but that's likely not enough. He's very good by getting overlooked with Correa there and him being banged up this year.

I think we should call Dave Stewart, show him Travis Shaw's major league numbers last year, and then ask for Archie Bradley, Braden Shipley, and Yoan Lopez.

Here at the biosphere, there's no one to be found. No players, execs, or media in sight after a walk around the resort. Either they partied hard last night, or their all holed up trying to get things done. Eerily quiet in the lobby and convention dpace. Even the ML B Network set has nothing but Harold Reynolds doing photo Ops for people. Never seen it this slow in any of my 3 visits to the WM. Hang on folks, it could be another wild day of signings from Nashville Thanks for the updates! Keep 'em coming. ![](http://oi65.tinypic.com/dp7338.jpg)

The Astros seem like a smart organization, though, so what's the reasoning behind a Springer deal? Would they value the haul they'd get over Springer himself?

Trying to acquire him though sounds like it would be a bit greedy and I'm not sure we have much of a match. Springer easily requires ML centerpiece (young pitcher) plus 2 top prospects, no?

Yeah, I'd love him but you're prob talking about clearing out prospects 1-3, minimum. ANY kind of trading at this point would be almost counterproductive......we have no more "he's blocked by such & such" or "he's expendable/redundant", we need our current crop of prospects to offset our expensive FA's.....I would even hate for JBJ + Owens because we may need Owens this year & they will not do JBJ + Marrero + Kopech type deal.
