Shaw's massive leg kick has me skeptical about his offensive potential I didn't notice anything different from last year. It's pretty much a duplicate of Adrian Gonzalez swing, he does OK.

Will be interesting to see how this team does out of the gate. Kluber, Carrasco, Salazar and then 3 games against the Jays all on the road is a little rough haha

Then again, the tribe gets to face Price, a healthy Buch and rebounded Porcello, plus Kimbrel, a healthy Koji and Taz, and the slip-sliding pitches of Smith. We should be OK. And we have been getting a good idea of the dynamic offensive sequence of Castillo, Swihart, JBJ, Mookie, Pedey, XB, Papi, Hanley, Shaw. We should be OK. In fact, the tribe and Jays might be getting nervous by now. After a week of ST, it seems the Sox came to play.

That would secure everything the Sox are trying to do in the next couple of years by locking up the two future faces of this franchise.

If I had to guess, it sounds like they're working on Xander, but that Mookie doesn't really have any interest in an extension right now since he apparently doesn't seem to care about money at all.

It's going to be something like that they have a new mascot, or that they're running Thursday night specials for college students. Only actual big news would be if the Webers found a buyer, and I doubt they'd tease it like that.

Good, maybe that means Mookie takes less money and more years. Or mookie, who came up later than xander, is waiting to see what happens with his buddy X. Imagine that some lucky ten year old kids are getting a chance to (hopefully) enjoy a Sox team with a core of Beni, Betts, Bogaerts, Bradley, Kelly, Moncada, Owens, Erod, Shaw, Swhihart/Vasquez, etc into their 20's. Like the old days, when we rooted for the laundry because we rooted for the players wearing the laundry. So Papi, Pedey and Buch won't be the last long term Sox. Yayy.

Interesting observation:
Peter Gammons @pgammo 2h2 hours ago w/ 3 of top 9 MLB K rates, Orioles face this late inning dilemma:7 of top 14 MLB reliever K rates are in AL East rival pens:
Peter Gammons @pgammo 2h2 hours ago @pgammo Chapman(15.4), Kimbrel(14.5), Betances(13.8), Miller(13.5), Marmol(12.3), Boxberger(11.9), Carson Smith(11.7)
AL East K rates are going to go through the roof.

Salem this year will rival Salem from 2013 when they won the Carolina League championship.....They had Swihart, Owens, Cecchini, Coyle, Marrero, Betts.....should be another good wave this year.

Yup, I did. But really, I wouldn't think to much into it. What we all from time to time forget is that Hanley never really was criticized by one of his teammates since he joined us. I still think we see him way to critical, only because he's a little bit goofy. Manny was like that (even more) but he was one of the best hitters ever and a hard worker. So we should not only judge him for loosing two gloves but acknowledge that he still made it very far from less then ideal circumstances. Hoping for a big season from him, being healthy and decent defensively.

I wasn't. I just thought it was funny/ironic.
Any spring training tips for a newbie? I'm heading down next week for the first time ever. Are we allowed to just roam around during the day? Anything I HAVE to check out while down there?

Kieth Law chat:
Jason: What is Eduardo Rodriguez ceiling? Klaw: Number one starter.
Corey: Deven Marrero a good fit for STL ? Would the Sox move him and what would be a proper return if so ? Klaw: Now that’s a move I’d like for them. One good pitching prospect in return.

Didn't even think of that since Peralta is hurt. I've always thought of Marrero as such a classic Cardinals player though. Glove first SS capable of being a good NL Util player.

One good pitching prospect would be a good return for us for a player that is essentially blocked. Particularly true in light of the fact that we have Marco Hernandez for emergencies.
