Very impressive win today.
Bullpen really doing well.
Is this the first game off this season for Tawaza?

Man, I watched the last two innings and Ross was dealing. I'm thinking that when Smith comes back, Layne might be the odd man out rather than Noe.

Fantastic win, the bullpen is looking sexy.
Still not sold on Porcello, but great start by him as well.

What I like so far is the ability of our line-up to keep the pressure on. For the last couple of years, it seemed like when we got behind we had little or no chance to come back. Some very positive trends so far: 1) relentless offense, 2) deep bull pen, 3) a smarter game management from Farrell (?), 4) and a team with some moveable parts that gives us options.
Don't disregard the starting pitchers we have faced so far and how we have not stopped.

Good to see that the game thread is in mid season form.

I love how fans (and journalists) already started with the Price + the others crap, assuming that all 4 other starters stink. And this started after Buchholz' start with 3 pitchers who didn't even get ONE start yet. Actually 4 if you include Rodriguez. That's gotta be a record for being impatient.

Or, they watched the last few years and get that Clay B is a year older, Joe Kelly is pushing 30{to be fair 28 in June} and still hasn't got it, Porcello is what he is, and Wright is still unproven.

Did you miss what happened in the 2nd half of the year last year with Kelly and Porcello? And besides that, no one would have given up on those two already before their first starts if Buchholz had only had a decent start. It's just so ridiculous. But the good news is that Swihart is going to take about 300 walks this year and have a .417 OBP with a .143 avg.

Did you miss what happened in the 2nd half of the year last year with Kelly and Porcello? Oh jeez. Porcello switches to a mix involving his sinker more for his last 8 starts and gets good results. But go back and look at the vertical drop numbers on that sinker during those starts and today. Not anywhere even close to what it once was when he was pitching to his strengths. Until he gets that sinker back, I don't see why we expect good things from him. Joe Kelly goes out the other day and throws the best slider of his career, and still cannot get more than one swing and miss on his fastball. There is legitimate reason to worry about these two. We don't need to sell off Salem just yet to replace them, but we can at least be honest and not pretend like these two look overly promising.

The best part of today was Panda striking out 3 times and making a throwing error. Perhaps now, they will keep him on the bench a little longer than they had planned.

I think maybe Kelly should be moved to the pen. He could be great there.

I think maybe Kelly should be moved to the pen. He could be great there. I agree with you, but wanted to know why you think that. What do you thin he brings to the bullpen that could make him great?
