Seeing Hanley playing well, contributing, even kind of taking on a leadership role...wow, could be my favorite story of 2016. What a difference a year makes.

Rotten luck there. Can't do anything about that as a baserunner.

We need a bridge to the 8th. Carson Smith (12 pitches yesterday) and Kimbrel (10 pitches yesterday) should both be available.

It's not like I posted this 3 pages ago or anything, but Kimbrel also threw 26 pitches the day before yesterday. I'd say the plan at this point is likely to be Hembree, Layne, Smith.

Couple innings from Hembree would be mighty nice right now.

The defense has been a joke today.

Holt has not impressed me with his judgement on wall balls.

Can't freaking wait til Rutledge's hot streak is over so we can get rid of the scrub off the team.

Holt has not impressed me with his judgement on wall balls. Could be time to find a full time LF and let Holt go back to his super utility role.

I'm aware of CK's pitch count on Friday. I can read game logs too. But I don't know that that would keep him out of today's game if they're looking to protect a lead in the ninth (though, thanks to Josh Rutledge, there may not be a lead in the ninth).

Hembree looks like he wants to choke slam Rutledge

Can the scorer give the loss to Rutledge?

Gonna need two touchdowns today to win this one? And we'd better not miss the extra points — need 'em all today, looks like.

It would be a shame if Hembree got sent AAA instead of Barnes.

Rutledge has done some good things this year and some bad things. He's the last position player in the mix...it's to be expected. Hembree definitely deserved a better fate.

He's bad. It's not his fault. The issue is we have no true LFer. So the good player we have that should be playing the Rutledge role is a full time, sub-par LFer instead of an top tier utility player.
