I didn't realize Espinoza was "rolling."

When you see Portland has 14 hits and none of them belong to Benintendi With guys on base in front of him all day long maybe they were not going to give him anything to hit? Benny has some street cred as an rbi guy.

Bobby Poyner with another good outing. 2.0 IP 3K's 0BB only 1H allowed. Not sure why he's not in Salem yet

All right, already.
Bobby Poyner is age 23, old for A ball, but understandable since he was just drafted last year.
So far in Greenville, he's thrown 26 innings in 16 games, with 10 hits, 1ER, 32 K's, and a K/BB ratio of infinity.
There is no point to leaving a 23-year old at this level any longer. I don't care if he's doing it with smoke and mirrors -- move the guy. If he is so much ahead of the league that he doesn't need to pitch carefully and end up walking anyone, then he'll only get complacent if he isn't challenged.
OOPS - brockstar beat me to it.

He's earning that $10k signing bonus, for sure. I don't understand the babying of college senior relief pitchers.

That's positively Owens-esque. In a way, it's a more encouraging line than a totally dominant one. BB, 363 DP, 9 BB, 643 DP, 9 BB, BB, 15 failed sac, P6, WP, 3U P6, Ks, 53 Kc, Kc, 1B (L9), Ks He walked 4 of the first 8 hitters, then none of the last 9 (skipping the bunt). He fanned none of the first 11 hitters, then 4 of the last 6. After he got the lead runner on a failed sac bunt, he got 4 K's, 2 popups, and 2 grounders in a stretch of 9 hitters. That's adapting on the fly.

Elias not even as good as his line (5 6 5 4 4 4). The Braves were 3/7 on line drives off him.

Call me old fashioned.
But the Portland Sea Dogs versus the Hartford Yard Goats as a baseball matchup is a little avant grade for me, in terms of team names.

I don't think it's babying so much as he's not a high priority guy for them (yet), so they're not necessarily going to push guys aside for him until he makes them. He is, of course, making them right now. But if you look in Salem, Maddox and Grover haven't been awful, Callahan has some upside, even if he's looking like he's never going to get there, and Pimentel and Alcantara have been pretty good, although walking too many. With only 5 true bullpen guys right now (given they're skipping starts right now and also have Taylor in long relief), there's not a ton of room. Ball to Portland within a couple weeks might open up a spot for Poyner.

You really think Ball to Portland in a couple of weeks? Why not? He spent all of last season in Salem too and is over 160 innings at the level. Not predicting it, but it's a possibility. They've got 7 SP on the roster, so something's gotta give, and that seems like the most likely.

But if he can show some consistency over the next few weeks, perhaps that's enough. I'd really like to see him consolidate whatever gains he's made and get some solid confidence before getting the bump to Portland.

Evidence.
That's an awesome picture, by the way. Not that all of yours aren't.
