Koji favoring the slider here all of a sudden Adding a third pitch would be nice-- his split hasn't been as effective this year, and guys have been sitting on it.

Speaking of which, Koji's ability to effortlessly carve through hitters remains a joy to watch.

How long does it take for BABIP to normalize? He had 654 PAs last year and a .372 BABIP and now has a .405 in 278 PAs this year. I mean when can we call him Wade Boggs? A Google search told me roughly 2.5 years. His career BABIP is ~.350 in about that length of time, so I think we can statistically say that he has a BABIP skill at this point (if it wasn't obvious just by watching him hit).

At this rate, Pedroia might get another plate appearance.

Seems like a good time to get Kimbrel warming.

The foursome of Bogaerts, Correa, Seager, and Lindor have a chance to be better than the Garciaparra/Jeter/A-Rod/Tejada once-in-a-lifetime SS crop. Just incredible to be witnessing this.

Very thoughtful of his teammates to bat around to give him another chance.

Are we all just going to ignore the fact that Lyons called Xander a "Tinkle guy" (as in don't use the can when he's at the plate)? Am I the only one listening to him at this point?

No dice for Pedey today. Time to start a new one. Bogaerts now has a 2 4-hit game streak.

How about his comment on the bat boy he was talking about how much pressure there was on him to clean up those bottles on the field.

Hanley Ramirez wRC+ 89. And it's like he's unlucky or anything: His BABIP is .324.. When Craig got out of the AAA DL?

Glad we pulled out a win today.
Wish Rodriguez would have thrown better though.

Even though he is struggling a bit this year, I still believe that Rodriguez will eventually be a #2 starter in this league. Very few players I would trade him for.

Damn, MY feet hurt watching Papi run. Yes, anyone would think Ortiz just hit a low-power 3-5 today. But one was off the right field fence and another off the CF fence. It's a real shame because (1) If Papi is having trouble with his feet it may well be ongoing. (2) His record-threatening XBH season will probably fade away rapidly if he can't run out doubles. (3) He could be a base path clogger in the middle of the lineup as the season goes along. With the good hitters behind him it may not matter too much over the regular season, but in the playoffs, facing top pitching, bases count for more.

Hanley Ramirez wRC+ 89. And it's like he's unlucky or anything: His BABIP is .324.. When Craig got out of the AAA DL? He does not hit for average, he does not hit for power, he does not steal bases, and he is merely a passable first baseman. Hanley really adds nothing to the team on the field.

Eh, he is hitting for average-- .271 is nothing to sneeze at. He's not walking much or hitting for power, though, which is a problem. They don't have a better option, so he'll get a chance to work himself out of it.

He's declining: He lost his bat speed, he's swinging an missing at a career high level, beating the ball on to the ground when pulling it. If Travis was healthy, DDo could've sandovaled him. IMO, they should start to explore other options: C. Marrero maybe, give some playing time to Brentz at 1st base in Pawtucket, maybe Craig when he gets back from the DL (any updates?), or see the trade market (Someone like Brandon Moss). What a horrible signings him and Fat Pablo were!
