Rangers score 4 runs on 5 singles. We put 5 men on and score one.

Historical analysis suggests that your best hitter should hit 2nd. Pedroia is no better than 5th best, which doesn't mean he's bad. He's also been a minus baserunner since 2013.

Is it that hard to switch Betts and Pedroia in the order? I dont care if he doesnt like it, his DPs are killing what could be big innings.

Pedroia is a fun guy, and loves Boston, but he's an ego maniac. He should be lower in the order and Bradley should be second, but it won't happen. At least not with Farrell.

Pedroia has a much longer track record of success than Bradley, though. I'm usually in the camp where, to some level, players should be in the lineup spot where they are most comfortable, since lineup order doesn't mean a ton over the course of the season provided the best hitters are near the top and worst are near the bottom. And for all of the heat Pedroia seems to take here (familiarity breeds contempt, I suppose) his .302/.366/.435 is both excellent and also almost uncannily close to his career line. All that said, it's not just that he hits into double plays. It's that, with his skills, hitting into double plays is almost predictable. He's a contact hitter who is prone to rolling over the ball when he misses and isn't especially fast. Putting that guy in the #2 spot in the lineup is kind of asking for double plays.
I'd go Pedroia-Bogaerts-Betts-Ortiz myself, but 2-4 can really go in any order.

I think CV goes down and it's the right move. I don't like Leon at all, but he's been a plus, won't clear waivers. Also, I'll get a kick out of the outrage on the board. Why not? Decent D, but I think the bat so far is a small sample fluke. Be glad to be wrong, which is why I send CV down and keep him.

Serious question: will Travis Shaw be: 1. Everyday 3B 2. Platoon 3B 3. In the minors
come 1 August?

That would be even better, Bradley #2 would make the L-R much more balanced. But if DP complains about leading off, imagine if you put him #7? Betts JBJ Xander Ortiz Hanley Shaw DP Holt Catcher

I wonder if the 1st inning of games were eliminated, what our run differential would be.

Or maybe just bat Leon #2 Out of all the weird hot streaks we've seen, his is climbing the rankings fast.

He's pretty amazing so far. Only given up one run. He's the reason it's a 3 run lead for his team. In line for a W.

Carl Willis consistently fails to have his pitchers ready to pitch the first inning.

Folks can talk bad luck all they want. The starting pitching hasn't been good enough. 1 thru 3 has been ok, 4 and 5 have been white flags.

"Who cares how hard Hanley hits the ball, he's a terrible hitter because he keeps making outs!" Funny how we don't hear that anymore. If he keeps hitting them on the ground, it doesn't matter, he's not getting XBHs and we've been facing a lot of LHP lately. Look at his pulled balls profile: 70% of them are grounders! 70%! That's 2014 Allen Craig level so of course his Pull ISO went MIA. If they start attacking him inside as the NL Central has done to Craig, he's toast. Yeah did you see how he just hammered that one into the ground just now?

Might be a stupid question but why is it 3 earned runs for porcello? Shouldn't it be 2?
