Wonder if Vazquez gets demoted when Hanigan is eligible to come of the DL. I had assumed that they're keeping Leon around and might release Hanigan, but now I'm starting to think that Vazquez might get sent down.

Vazquez's bat has just been too anemic and his glove not outstanding enough for that to happen. I think it's quite likely we see Vazquez optioned today/tomorrow with Hanigan activated.

I think CV goes down and it's the right move. I don't like Leon at all,but he's been a plus, won't clear waivers. Also, I'll get a kick out of the outrage on the board.

Happy 240th to the Unites States of America. Love living in this country...even if it isn't always perfect . Hopefully the boys can win today in Boston, a city that has so much history to the beginnings of this country.

"You don't expect Pedey to ground into double plays."
Yes I do. Every single time he's up with a runner on first, I expect it. Unless there are two outs.

Grounds into a Double Play!

Let's get in the time machine in July 2015, and the Oracle tells you this chain of events.
Blake Swihart hurt himself trying to play outfield in order to make room for Christian Vazquez. Vazquez was then optioned to Triple-A, because Ryan Hanigan was healthy and the team didn't want to expose Sandy Leon to waivers. Also, Cole Hamels has a 2.93 ERA for the first place Texas Rangers, while the Red Sox are not in first place, despite the leagues best offense, because the 4th and 5th starters have an ERA in the 7's.
I'd have punched that Oracle in the face.

You're surprised by Hamels' ERA?

JBJ has to figure out that low offspeed stuff. Not swinging is a good start.

That's the second worst strike call of the season.

You're surprised by Hamels' ERA? He's not going to be under 3 in September, so it's kind of surprising.

You're surprised by Hamels' ERA? Not at all. It seems to me that the main hold-up on a Hamels trade was that the Phillies wanted Swihart and the Red Sox weren't willing to part with him (which was, at the very least, a reasonable position). Given what has happened since - they moved him to the outfield to accommodate a player who probably shouldn't be on the roster over replacement players like Hanigan and Leon - it makes the fact that Hamels has shown that he's able to perform just fine in the American League all the tougher to take.
