Travis Shaw has a 32+ against LHP in 2016. Woof woof Find your posts where you were defending Farrell for this back then. If not, shut up with your hindsight.

It's the day of the Nathan's national hot dog eating contest. Do you know where your Pablo Sandoval is?

Barnes is not the guy for this. He shouldn't be in this game without another 2 runs added to lead.

Nice job by Porcello for getting through 6 after that rought 1st.

Nice job by Porcello for getting through 6 after that rought 1st. Porcello always has one crummy inning, and it is never indicative of how he's actually going to pitch the rest of the game. Of all the things we bash Farrell for here, not overreacting to bad innings and removing his starts too is something he's gotten pretty good at. Sometimes it bites him - Rodriguez's last start, for example - but more often it turns out like Porcello today, or Price last Wednesday. Of course, part of that might be from necessity, as he's needed to give him bullpen a rest. But whatever the reason, credit where credit is due.

But now, the fun starts with the bullpen management.

Now is the time for Barnes, but I expect Tazawa.

Yeah, especially when Shaw was OPS'ing over 1.000 at the time. Is this your idea of an above 3rd grade level argument? You're such a miserable little cur. Back in your hole doggy Cut out the personal stuff. You've been warned about this before. Thanks.

I would just love for Barnes to climb that final hurdle to become a high leverage reliever. It still seems possible.

Pedroia must have used his iphone to check Sox prospects game thread and read the double play posts. His response was:
double play???...grabs crotch...I got your double play right here.

Nice job by Porcello for getting through 6 after that rought 1st. It would be great if they could get through the 1st without the crooked numbers, seeing eye singles aside. That said, he shut them down completely after that, had another quality start, and probably gets his 10th win. Not bad.

So Koji is pitching on back to back days with 5 run leads? WTF?
And this is his 3rd game in 4 days.
Here's my post game question for him: Despite pitching his 3rd game in 4 days, the last 2 games with 5 run leads, did you really think a 40 year old relief pitcher who appears severely worn down needed more work or were there literally no other pitchers available?

While that may be a true statement in general (others will be able to evaluate that better than me), it could be that today Farrell was simply trying to get innings out of his starter so he doesn't grind his bullpen into dust before the AS break next week. I can hear Reggie Cleveland somewhere cheering him on.

This team is nothing without Mookie, Dustin, Xander, Papi, Hanley, JBJ, Brock, Shaw, and Sandy.

That's as many HR (18) as Mookie had all of last year I think that's as many hits (4) as Leon had all of last year. In fact, in order to duplicate last year's hitting performance, Leon needs to go 1 for his next 74 AB. Except of course that he has many more XBH and RC than he did all of last year so far. Obviously, this performance is coming absurdly out of nowhere. But if I were John Farrell, I'd ride this particular horse as long and as consistently as I could. And I bet Sandy Leon feels exactly the same way. "I'm feeling' it, coach. Keep me in there!!"
