Is it just my selective memory, or do Sox hitters never swing at 3-0 fastballs down the middle?

Joe West is an abomination, but it's about time the Sox benefited from missed calls.

Griffin throws 67/68 mph curves. And baffles Ortiz

Wow - just a run and was luck that West didn't call a couple of those strikes.

They really need a true LF. Holt just shouldn't be starting in LF. Great utility player, but not an everyday guy. Bring up Benintendi or trade for Bruce or Reddick.

And I never thought Price would be this bad, this fast. He *looks* like a mid-rotation guy, right down to the nearly-pedestrian velocity. If he were a RH, he would be totally average. He gives leads away like Valentine's Day cards in a 4th-grade classroom. He can't *stay* this bad, can he?!

Perversely, you almost hope that after the year is over it's revealed that he pitched with an injury (ala Lackey). There's only 6 more (declining) years left He reminds me of a poor man's Cliff Lee - without the quite pinpoint command and curveball

In that last plate appearance to Profar, ESPN Gameday has him at 95, 95 and 96 with his fastball.

For Price it looks like the location of the Fastball. I remember watching games where he would throw like 90% fastballs and mow down lineups. If he starts to get the ball down again it'll greatly change the narrative. As it is, he is getting a ridiculous amount of K's

He's been inefficient and repeatedly had trouble putting guys away. Maybe some of it is bad luck, because the K rate has been good, but like I said, his FB velocity is 2 mph lower than most past seasons.

Those 66 mph curve balls put the offense to sleep.

He's certainly had this sort of season before (which gives me hope), but he's not fooling anyone these days. 7/219 is a *lot* of money for a third starter. Here's an idea...lets trade away Espinoza and Kopech for someone like Moore or Gray or Teheran. Get that payroll up!! Screw 2017 and beyond!

Btw, anyone have a Sox RISP performance tally for tonight? Toss in the numbers for runners driven in from 3rd with less than 2 out.

The RISP is brutal considering none of these pitchers have been extraordinary in any way.

Price is baffling to me. The first two innings he looked pathetic. Then he starts throwing 96 and mowing down a good lineup. He was at 64 pitches through 3 innings and appears as though he's going to make it through 8 relatively easily. Doesn't say a lot for the discipline of the Texas offense. Maybe he got pissed off after realizing he was just screwing around and decided to get serious.

Well, Price actually ended up pitching pretty efficiently after coughing up the lead. Just poorly enough that he'll probably get an L. I say leave him in for the ninth, though. Give the bullpen a rest. But make sure Tazawa warms up, dammit.
