Not only has Paxton been impressive tonight, he has bailed the Mariners out after last night's extra inning affair in Chicago. Would have been nice to get to their pen early in this first game.

I know it's Seattle, and the options are limited, but I don't think I would have had the stones to put RRJ in there in this situation. He's been just about the most clutch reliever in baseball. He's allowed a 670 OPS in low leverage, a 531 in medium leverage, and in high leverage, including tonight, 4/34, 2B, 4 BB, 2 HB, 13 SO (.118 / .250 / .147). JF seems to have begun to realize it. In his career, in decent sample sizes, his OPS allowed in low-lev is 748 versus about 673 otherwise. He seems to have a real problem being consistently effective in garbage time, but he's otherwise been a very good reliever.

Nervous inning, but props to Taz for the escape.
Need somebody to swat one. Really want this game.

I get the match-up move here, but Seattle just bought Kimbrel an extra 5 minutes to warm-up.

I'm in Florida watching on GameCast, and I swear I said "Mookie's going to go yard here," and literally two tenths of a second later the screen refreshed to show the score 2-1, and then they did the graphic of the ball leaving the park. Probably my all-time favorite live Internet moment.
