Nice, when the 76ers moved up I thought it was over. The Lakers are so lucky it's not even funny!

It's so awesome that the Celtics are landing Fultz. Hopefully Hayward is licking his chops to get to Boston and join his old coach.

Ainge needs to pull a John Lynch and make the Lakers give up everything for the #1 pick. Take advantage of Magics rookie a**

Why are you so sure that they are drafting Fultz Pedro Fan? Or even making the pick.

Why are you so sure that they are drafting Fultz Pedro Fan? Or even making the pick. Because the Celtics have never had a number one pick and Fultz is the best all around talent. Plus, I don't think the Celtics want to go near Ball and his dad.

Fultz better be coming to Boston... the ideal draft night is Celtics take Fultz then the Lakers pass on Ball

Thank you Paul Pierce, KG, Terry, Danny Ainge, and Billy King!
And we still have next year's Nets pick, and potentially two extra first rounders the year after. Future is bright!

I mean the Celtics could keep all 5 guards in that case and DNP Rozier most nights.

The problem with trading these guards is that you're not getting much in return for them because of the lack of control. I'd actually would want Crowder to get traded if the Celtics get Hayward. You might get something useful for him in return, maybe a nice big man or something.

I'm letting Fultz backup Isaah for a year at the point and letting Isaah walk. He'll be almost 30 at that point and I think the Celtics would have gotten the most out of Isaah to that point. Plus, Isaah would be a great guy to learn under for a year for Fultz. A lot of Fultz's game reminds me of Isaah and how he attacks the basket and creates easy baskets around the rim. It also creates less pressure of becoming a starter and a main piece right away. It limits his minutes and let him grow and develop, while using him as a great bench piece that can score.
If I'm the Celtics, I'd try to keep Braley and Smart if possible.

Letting Isaiah just walk would be losing an asset for nothing and not gaining any cap space as a result, not sure that's the best approach.
With all his warts Isaiah is a 28 PPG scorer... I'm not sure people fully appreciate how hard that is to do in the NBA... now if they add Fultz and Hayward, even if we fast forward 2 years for Fultz to be more likely to be a true scoring option (even at his sub career peak), think about how much that opens up for Isaiah. Teams right now can double and even triple him because there isn't one other player who can truly do damage. Look what Kelly O just did... he did that because of the attention IT took. Once Danny gets a player or two who demand the other teams attention, Isaiah becomes that much more lethal which should counteract any slight physical drop. His shooting has separated him so his production is sustainable. Remember his numbers may drop to the 23-24 range just by having other guys take the load not because he's lost anything in his game. All you have to do is look at how good this team is offensively when one of those other guys steps up, then just imagine having a guy you know can do that every night.

Isaah's numbers will probably regress no matter what outcome comes from the team moving forward. This year was a career year and isn't probably the norm for Isaah. He is probably not a 28 point scorer in his 30's and he might be even more of a defensive liability because he might lose a step too.
I really do think the Celtics used up the Isaah asset to the best that they could if they kept him another year and let him walk. Remember, they got him for nothing on a good contract to begin with. Now we know that Fultz is almost a lock to come to Boston, it's going to have to be on his shoulders to take over when Isaah leaves. Keeping Isaah here on his last year actually makes this scenario more feasible because Fultz might be ready to take over with a year experience in the league.

Also, what are you really getting for Isaah Thomas if you made him available in a trade?
A late first round pick?
No thanks, got plenty of those already. I'll contend for a year with him and let him walk. Hopefully he teaches Fultz everything he knows offensively in that one year in the meantime.

If the team doesn't mind paying luxury tax, which supposedly they don't then I extend Isaiah and even if he's instant offense off he bench in years 3 and 4 of his extension then it's worth it. If Fultz and Brown develop like we hope and expect then the timing will be perfect. He'd also provide you a good salary trade chip in his last year to keep the train rolling over.
I also think letting the heart and soul of your team walk sends a bad message.
