If this Sale deal happens this board will react like the USA at about 3 a.m. on Nov 9.

Based on that reported Nationals offer, I'd say Rodriguez, Kopech and Devers plus pieces. Which you do in a heartbeat, obviously. That won't do it. I fear for JBJ or Benintendi.

The White Sox must really want JBJ from the Sox. There must be someone they rather have from Boston. If DD does this. There is no top prospects. I really want Devers to take 3b. I bet you Kopech must be highly coveted. Maybe they sell high on him with JBJ.

Truly hope we're leverage for the Nats deal. The timing makes no sense to me - like Dombrowski wasted Papi's last playoff run on purpose, softening the blow of prospect loss by spreading out his decimation of the farm system. Not to overreact too harshly, Sale is one hell of a player, but this is a move you make instead of the Pomz deal, to me, I guess

I'm gonna put this out there right now that we will get him without giving up Moncada or Benintendi.
Of course Dombrowski is our GM so he'll give up both just for the hell of it.

I'm hoping that the ChiSox are enamored with JBJ, and he can be treated as a centerpiece. I can stomach losing him more than anyone else that's mentioned as a viable trade chip.
Some variables to consider:
-Do we have a team lined up to take on Buch's salary? -Do we have an OF replacement lined up to replace JBJ? -Can we make this deal and fall under the salary threshold?

If DDom is entering the race, it's good as done. Lots of talent is about to be switching places. Brace yourselves

@joelsherman1: Keep in mind there's no more decisive exec than Dombrowski. When he decides he wants something he is aggressive with $/prospects #redsox
This sums it up perfectly

Well they certainly found a way to keep me from freaking out about the possibility of Mitch Moreland. That seems so quaint!

Well, I'll at least put this out there before the inevitable overpay. Chris Sale *is* elite. All the cheap words on this board from the usual suspects that E. Rodriguez is as good as Sale is utter nonsense.

LOL, I'm ok. Deal's done. Not the end of the world, just exactly what most of us predicted. Ill-timed moves for short-term gains, for the win

Any concerns about Sale having potential arm problems. I know there is chatter the White Sox want to deal him now due to their concerns about it.

I hope they somehow find a way to do with without Beni and Mancada . I was hopeing we could take advantage of the rising value of Devers and Kopech if they decided to to this deal. Of course I was thinking more next trade deadline.

Let's keep the Sale talk to that specific thread. Thanks.

If you aren't going to start Pomeranz, as tough of a pill it is to swallow, you may want to gauge his trade value. 4 lefty starting pitchers is a lot, and he's got multiple years of control in an offseason with very little pitching available.
He's proven what he could do in the NL. Maybe the Nationals would have interest.

Trevor Plouffe now makes an awful lot of sense to platoon with Pablo, and to provide all around corner infield depth.

I would seriously start looking into selling a starter for prospects then signing Turner depending on the cost. He'd be a big lift for the team over the next couple of years now than Moncada is gone.
