I didn't think I would be putting in a fantasy baseball waiver claim for Daniel Bard in 2020, and yet here we are.

The Giants picked up outfielder Luis Alexander Basabe from the White Sox, just a few days after Chicago designated Basabe for assignment. They’d acquired him from Boston in the Chris Sale trade in December of 2016, but the talented outfielder has had trouble staying healthy in pro ball, playing in just 300 regular-season games in the three years since the trade, and he’d started to see his body slow down recently, which could really impact his ability to stay in centerfield. Basabe was Chicago’s No. 8 prospect coming into 2020 on the basis of some sneaky power and solid plate discipline, although if he can’t play center on more than an emergency basis he’s probably lost his chance to be a regular. He’s out of options next year, which likely contributed to the White Sox’ decision, especially with centerfield set for the foreseeable future. theathletic.com/1993025/2020/08/13/law-in-a-season-with-no-minor-leagues-front-offices-face-a-demotion-dilemma/

Curt Schilling is in the news. Google his name and that of Steve Bannon. I do not invite comments on this.

I find it humorous that posters here would think Shilling has relevance. He's click bait or was that the intent ?
Of equal relevance my wife just made pancakes using almond flour. Fantastic, give them a try.

You find it humorous that posters in the Red Sox forum would think that mentioning Schilling in the former Red Sox thread is relevant?
And that's crazy because my wife made almond flour pancakes this past weekend and they were terrific. Seconded.

Tyler Thornburg next up for TJ surgery. Dude is basically hand surgery away from completing the set.

Tyler Thornburg next up for TJ surgery. Dude is basically hand surgery away from completing the set. In a weird way some TJ surgeries are hand surgeries- often times they’ll take a ligament from your wrist iirc Feel awful for the guy. He had a ton of promise. Could have the worst injury history I’ve seen in a pitcher in recent memory. Maybe Venters is the only one worse

But wrist is first choice.

Is it still? I can remember when Crawford posted a photo post-surgery, his leg was wrapped and everyone was confused like he had a leg surgery at the same time (which I guess technically he did), when it was just to get the ligament.
Honest question.

Honest question. Is wrist still? I think... but it’s been a while for me. But I think a decent number of people don’t have the wrist ligament they use (I forget the % they told me, but it was not negligible), so the back of the leg is a not-infrequent second choice. But maybe in the (many) years since I did it they bagged the wrist altogether?

That’s weird to me, wouldn’t he have value because of his 3 million dollar contract? Isn’t that option the reason the Sox were able to get so much? If they do decline the option I would gladly welcome him back with open arms
