At the time they were just a pack of lovable misfits, but it's like every player on that 2004 team has since evolved into either a deified icon or a total garbage fire of a person.

Don't you bring Mark Bellhorn into this. Bellhorn is totally in the icons here. When you factor in clutch hitting -- Win Probability Added translated to runs and substituted for Batting and base-stealing runs in WAR-- Mark Bellhorn was the position-player MVP of the 2004 Boston Red Sox.
And of course he was the actual MVP of the WS, as he had a better hitting line than Manny, played better defense at a much tougher position, and had the only important hit. If there was a scenario where they lost the WS, it was the one where the blown lead in Game 1 led to a loss and a tailspin. But Bellhorn's homer off the pole put them back on top, and in the next three games they scored in the first inning and had the lead continually after that.

So there's still a chance to really rue the Pomeranz trade!

www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/03/angels-option-ty-buttrey-sign-noe-ramirez.htmlDouble whammy with Noe replacing Buttrey Buttrey looking to turn things around at the alternate site. I remember his mom got mad at me on Twitter and turned up in my mentions randomly because I tweeted something about him breaking his hand out of frustration and wondering if the Sox viewed him as a personality fit in this market after he and Jerez were moved. I always found it weird they didn’t give him a look

The surprising part to me about the Buttrey/Noe Ramirez transactions is that Ty Buttrey somehow still has options remaining. Going through, it looks like he actually has two left. I kinda had forgotten he wasn't added to the 40-man until before the '18 season, and wasn't optioned at all in 2019 or 2020.

David Price is going to begin the season as a bulk reliever for the Dodgers.
Pretty sure it's temporary while he ramps back up from some kind of illness but the fact that this is even an option for them while they roll out Kershaw/Bauer/Buehler/Urias/May with Jimmy Nelson and Tony Gonsolin in their bullpen as well is absolutely bananas.

Paying $16 million for a long reliever, smdh. Maybe next offseason we can do an Ottavino and take that albatross of a contract off their hands and pick up a prospect in the bargain. I'd take Price as our #5 starter in 2022...

Buttrey really seems like he’s done http://instagram.com/p/CNNyOXXsg7w Just doesn’t really like baseball when it’s all said and done. More power to him, I hope he finds the happiness he’s searching for

More power to him, I hope he finds the happiness he’s searching for Sincerely I wish him the best, and I hope he's able to find whatever it is he's looking for on his journey. I also hope he finds a keyboard with a working Caps Lock along the way.
