Congratulations to Jon Lester on winning the 200th game of his career last night. He has helped the Cardinals since his acquisition and it looks like the Cards appear to be on their way to the wild card game. Probably not a HOFer, but what a fantastic pitcher he has been. He's the guy who got the clinching win in the 2007 World Series and was the guy everybody forgot about because David Ortiz batted .688 in the World Series, but Lester was nails that post-season and particularly in the Series. I wouldn't have minded if he was Co-MVP of that series with Ortiz. 2 huge wins only allowing 1 run in 17 innings. Didn't do too bad with the 2016 Champion Cubs either.

His Postseason resume compares favorably with Curt Schilling, including 4-1 with a 1.77 ERA in the WS (where pitcher wins DO matter!). I would have banked on Lester having one of those solid age 35-41 late careers. Hope it happens, still could I guess.

This is one I wasn’t expecting Jhonathan Diaz- officially a big leaguer. Called up by the angels I'm a little late on this, but this is great to see! I know a lot of the younger Latin American players in the system look up to him and were thrilled to see this. Good for him.

There was a clique of Venezuelan pitchers who were coming up together of, I think, Darwinzon, Mata, De Jesus, Diaz, and maybe guys like Mosqueda and Bazardo.

Everyone's favorite ex-Sox manager is running for Mayor of Stamford, Conn. Bobby V for MayorI liked the idea back in 2012 of him being named manager. He was just lost and had a team of vet's set in it's ways not about to change for him. Double whammy.

And we didn't even get Fun Bobby like when with the Mets he was ejected and then snuck back in using a fake mustache and sunglasses.

A few familiar names appeared on the BA minor league transaction thread that was released this morning.
CJ Chatham signed with the D-Backs and Hunter Haworth was released
Luis Alexander Basabe (previously with the Giants) and Jagger Rusconi re-signed with the White Sox

Quite a high level to get your feet wet as a manager.
I guess he was always really good at AAA, though...

Ichiro is somehow already 65 years old. The wording on the click bait isn't the real story here.

I saw that former Red Sox reliever Jim Corsi is battling cancer and the prognosis isn't good (to put it mildly). He's only a 60 year old. I remember him from his Oakland A's days. He was one of those up and down guys who was actually a pretty decent pitcher when given the chance. I remember him coming home to Boston to get that chance in 1998 (and pitching well), along with his former A's teammate and friend, Dennis Eckersley. I remember him doing some broadcasting with the local sports news. Seems like a great guy and family man. There is a news story from Steve Burton. Absolutely heartbreaking. My next birthday will be my 50th - I'll listen to Jim Corsi and make sure I have a colonoscopy right away. www.audacy.com/weei/sports/red-sox/former-red-sox-jim-corsi-reveals-he-is-battling-cancer
