So the story says there was a rift with Hendriks, which, hey, it happens. It doesn't specifically ID him as one of the players who wouldn't go to the news conference. Not going to extrapolate that he was or wasn't from that. I'm going to guess that Hendriks rubs a lot of guys the wrong way for being outspokenly liberal (or perhaps not liberal but certainly pro-Pride etc.). Players tend to lean very conservative. Not stating that as a value judgment in either direction very much on purpose so as not to have this go off the rails, but that's pretty much a fact of MLB life. Is that so? Sounds like speculative hooey to me. But what do I know, I haven't spent much time in MLB clubhouses engaging MLB players on their thoughts and biases either.

Interesting writing by Olney and Rogers then. I think we all have that coworker who were not crazy about but to have management have to prod you to attend an event congratulating them defeating cancer is pathetic.

Demographically speaking, a bunch of high-income and mostly non-college graduate males is almost certainly going to be a right-leaning bunch. Though I would guess the political valences play out differently among the international players.

Makes sense about Bloom, he seemed to be on to something with the minor league talent in Boston before he got the boot. Just didn't have enough MLB success. He'll get a GM/POBO job at some point in the not so distant future and I would not be surprised to see him do well.

The Sox have a knack for hiring good player development guys and hoping that they become good ML talent evaluators too. They have to hit eventually, huh?

Chaim's marketability is going to peak a year from now once next year's Red Sox rookie class graduates. He's gonna be the #1 name fans of hopeless teams want.
