The Bulls didn't get a ton, they are also sending back pick #17. Already been reports that Dunn is a bust after 1 year.

Where to start. Yes we won a lot of games. The goal for Danny is the finals and a shot at the championchip. Did we get there no. Will we get there with Thomas as the main guy. Even though he is an excellent player I am pretty sure he will not get us to the goal. We have to hide him on defense and you put a good 6'4 or 6'5 defender on him and he has problems and gets worn down. You are assuming a lot about me and cap space. I never said either one . What I am trying to say is that if you give someone a max deal you need to make sure it is the right guy. because to your point , if you are over the cap it is tough to get someone later. Not sure that guy is Thomas. With all of the picks Danny has over the next 3 years and the players on the roster he will be trying to jam 20 -25 guys into 12 to 15 spots and try and control the salaries. Tough puzzle to handle. Handing out salaries and getting the players that they want and win the title is tricky. Whether he keeps Bradley or smart I do not know and I am not saying either. If you can keep Thomas for a reasonable amount great. We could have 2 top 5 picks next year with porter coming out. A good problem for Danny or any other gm to have. I am more talking about managing cap space. You are asking the right questions about the wrong player. After they got Horford it changed everything. Your questions are more suited towards Horford than Thomas. There's a reason why Danny has gone out of his way to preserve the ability to get max cap space this year. After this offseason you just can't get max cap space again. So assume we get Griffin or Hayward. We are maxed out. We most likely add a couple more free agents, so we are well over the cap. So next year, giving Thomas a max deal does nothing but push us further over the cap. We wouldn't be using cap space, but his bird rights to sign him. Now assume no max free agent. If I had to guess we still sign free agents like KO. Assume we don't, we want to preserve cap space for 2018. It doesn't work, the first round picks we have will eat up our cap space, so you can't sign a max guy unless you trade them. All 3-4 of them, depending on Lakers pick. See what happens? No max cap space. You might be able to get max space by letting Bradley, Thomas and Smart leave. Then not getting the Lakers pick. The thing is Thomas is the draw, what max free agent wants to come and play with Horford, Crowder and a bunch of young players? So the decision is really easy in my book. Horford is the guy you should have questioned giving max money. I think the hang up here is the words cap space and salaries. The second hang up, is Thomas a max contract player? I understand that you are talking about with cap space. I guess I am talking more about salary management. You are still going to have to cram lots of players on to a limited roster. If you sign a Hayward or griffin yes you will use your cap up. If you have a max level player then by all means pay him. I do not think Thomas is a max level player. But, you seem to know a lot more about this than I do, so I will defer to your thinking.

Now Wojo is tweeting that George trade talks have stalled.
I'm sure this rumor won't die until George is finally traded.

As a Duke fan, and having watched lots of Tatum this year, I am pretty excited about this - though if they keep him, of course.

He was also the top guy on their board so to trade down and pick him is smart

I'm sure I'm wrong, but I'm thinking we'll go for Alec Peters.

Can't complain, even though Bell seemed like a great fit. Bell was called best defender in draft by some sites. Ojeleye is good value, can score and is a great athlete. If they like him, I like it.
