With Lowell starting tomorrow and the GCL starting the 26th will the Sox announce some signings ticketed for Lowell today?. I assume most signings are done per the already reported news. Not necessarily. The signings will trickle in as deals are finalized, which in some cases requires the results of drug tests and other medicals. There used to be more college guys signed and ready to go for the start of the year, but in 2014 they moved the start of the NYPL season up by 5-7 days, so now they just kind of get there when they get there. I wish that the league would publish signings and dollar amounts after the contracts are submitted to them. It gets really fuzzy with articles from all over the internet. Is there a reason to hide this information? We get dollar amounts here. For the past couple of years, we've gotten the exact dollar amounts for each bonus at the end of the signing period, and that should be the case this year. In the meantime, Jim Callis reports every bonus in the first 10 rounds and every bonus above "slot" after the 10th, so that should tide you over. He pretty much does exactly what you're asking for there.

Carson Teel Links: Welcome to the Signing PeriodHow Boston's picks rankedFormer Boston draftees selectedUpdated. It's looking like the club might be signing a larger portion of its picks than in recent years. Which makes sense given the state of the system and the lack of international prospects over the last couple years.

I was thinking end of 2nd to third round 3rd. If that's more than 700k in it is a nice value.

I was thinking end of 2nd to third round 3rd. If that's more than 700k in it is a nice value. That is about what he's getting - Comp B to early third. But keep in mind that the 14 comp picks push the start of the second round back to pick 37 and the third round back to pick 76. Given that Scherff was considered a top 50 or 60 prospect, getting him for value around pick 80 is a very good deal, especially considering the premium you'd think you'd be paying to buy him out of his college commitment - see Mike's $900k guess. They got Logan Allen for $725k, and he wasn't even a top 100 guy.

Getting Schreff for $700 k could free up some bonus money for tough sign beyond the 10 th round. Let's hope the Red Sox can find a way to use it to increase the talent in the system.

I just saw that Wren and Nishioka are now highlighted in green on the 2017 Draft History for the site. I always like watching the signees names getting highlighted as we go through the signing period. For prospect watchers it's like watching someone put presents under the tree that you can't wait to open.
Very happy to see the new draftees officially entering the Red Sox organization. Welcome, and you have the very best wishes of a very large fan base!

Schreff looks muscular for a pitcher, whereas Brannen needs to hit the weights.

It will be interesting to me to see how these players shake up the prospect standings? Assume they sign the top 5 draftees. Where will they fit against the list. Devers and groome I would think they stay the same. After that it is anyone's guess. Assuming they sign the #1. Where will he start? Salem? I know most go to Lowell, but the top 2 college pitchers will be interesting to see where they settle. I know the sox will monitor innings and limit them some.

I'd be truly surprised if Houck starts anywhere other than Lowell. There's a chance he could join Greenville for the playoffs, I suppose. I'd say it's 50/50 between Salem and Greenville for his assignment out of spring training next year.

With the amount of draftees being signed thought to be higher than normal years, are the teams going to have to make significant moves to open up roster spaces? Mike Andrews predicted at least 20 of their draftees to be signing or likely signing. Even if that number is high, that's a lot of players coming into the system and the rosters are all currently at their limit. How do teams normally deal with this issue?
