My guess is they were a little more conscious of the budget down to the penny because they knew they had room in Lowell and the GCL for as many guys as they could sign.

I know that it's not unusual to have 'senior signs' but I don't recall anyone with three. I can't say though that I've followed it for other teams. Anyone know how common that is ?

The Braves alone had 6 in order to sign Wright for 1.3M over slot and Tarnok for $740k over slot. www.mlb.com/draft/tracker/braves (Also love how they signed their 11th round pick for $100 over slot.) You can just do the tracker by team and see it. EDIT: And if you mean historically, the Red Sox alone had 4 each in 2012 and 2013 and 3 in 2015. Last year they only had 2 but Espinal, a JuCo, only took $50k to sign, so he may as well have been.

In the AL East for example, BAL had 3 in the first 10 rounds (+ 2 Juniors that signed for 10k), TAM had 3 in the first 10 rounds (+ 1 Junior that signed for 7.5k), TOR had 2 in the first 10 rounds, and NYY had 3 in the first 10 rounds. Other teams are also more aggressive with seniors after Round 10 to fill out rosters. By my count, it looks like after Round 10, NYY signed 6 seniors, TOR signed 7, BAL signed 11 (8 for less than 10k). Those teams also signed very little HS talent compared to our team. I'm much more excited about the HS guys.

Interesting article on Perry and his signing. According to this, he has a partial tear of his UCL that apparently won't require surgery. Seems like a good kid and he really came out of nowhere at Jupiter to turn heads. Multiple reports ( here's one with text inserted below) around that time had him in the mid 90s with a hard slider in the upper 80's that flashed plus. Hopefully his health/arm/elbow progress in the right direction this year and look forward to seeing him pitch next year.

I'd like to announce that I will gladly forego my college eligibility and sign for the remaining $8,455. That's really impressive though. Regardless of who pans out from this draft, to add that many prospects to the system is just such a huge win.

Giants signed Jack Conlon, per Ken Rosenthal. I'm curious why Mr. Dunne likes this. I was hoping the Sox would take a shot.

Two reasons. 1) Because ProBoards doesn't equip us with a "I find this information useful/interesting" button; 2) The Orioles general incompetence gladdens me. Though I agree that it would've been interesting to see the Sox make an effort there (and it's very possible that they did).

Interesting nugget from Ralph Treuel (minor league pitching coordinator) in Ryan Hannable's minor league notebook regarding recent draftees:
