We know that he convinced them to work on his team, he backed out of it and he hasn't even reached out to any of them. But yeah, maybe there's something we don't know. If there isn't, he's an a**hole. How much do you think he was working on his Indy coaching staff while preparing for the Super Bowl? I'm guessing not much. I'd bet that Kraft got him to stay by promising that he'd replace Bill and maybe giving him more money. Same here. There has to be a verbal agreement that he take over for BB. Otherwise he is taking a huge risk. It is hard for me to blame McDaniels seeing that Kraft and Belichick waited until so late in the game to make their pitch. If they had come to him with this in December this never happens. I cannot fault the guy for putting the stability and comfort of his family first. I was a bit surprised he was even interested in the Colts job with their crazy owner and the health of Luck still pending. If Luck requires more surgery and misses some of 2018 they will stink again and he is stuck. I do feel sorry for the assistant's who were already working in Indy, but I imagine they will find work elsewhere.

I feel sorry for no one, this is the NFL and these guys are all adults. They do what they do to further their careers in a different world than we all live in, they will be fine. sure it seems unfair but all will live and be just fine. F%$K the Colts I could give a shit about them. is this good for the Pats? YES and that is all I care about!!

There was news on the eve of the SB that said Luck may need more surgery so that situation could have played a bit of a role too. I think this is mostly about his family and a long term highly paid contract that allows him to keep his kids in the same schools their whole time growing up.

More money, his family, but Bill is going to teach him about free agency, the cap, the draft, etc. He is going to groom him to to replace him. Something he hasn't done before, McDaniels couldn't turn that down, who would? This is what Parcells did for Bill before he retired.
All the experts say Lucks health had nothing to do with this, but that is BS. Luck would be the only reason he wanted that Job, so it Certainly was a factor. Without Luck, you are completely rebuilding that team. Luck would allow him to win games why he builds the team. Coaches don't get the time needed to build teams anymore, so Luck and his health are huge.

Maybe Brady will stick around longer than Bill, I'm not sure.

I so far have read nothing that would've justified benching him for the game. On the rules violations, they all seem like one quarter or one half things. And if he sucked at practice, well guess what... the guys playing ahead of him sucked IN THE GAME, so maybe going to the next option was warranted? What a huge f-up. I was going to avoid this conversation and i just chose this post to respond to just cause. I could have chosen any number of them. I don’t think Rowe was all that bad in the SB. The first TD catch he “gave up” was tight coverage and just a great throw and catch. Sometimes it’s just great offense. I can understand questioning why he wasn’t playing over Bademosi at times etc, but let’s not forget that Malcolm Butler was bad most of the year and absolutely SUCKED against Jacksonville and Tennessee. I think he should have played too but he wasn’t good for a while. Don't disagree on Rowe necessarily. Was thinking more about Bademosi and Richards. 27 snaps between them.

Maybe Brady will stick around longer than Bill, I'm not sure. You don't think Bill drafts another QB? He wanted to keep Jimmy, we now see why, even though we knew he was good. His final parting gift will be finding us another QB for life after Tom. Nevermind the Patriots have way more talent than the Colts. Define rebuild? The Patriots can still be good, as in make the playoffs, just not a championship type team. The Colts without Luck could barely win any games. The overall talent levels aren't even close. When Bill walks away he will leave a team stocked with talent. The question is can Josh keep it that way? That's where Bill teaching Josh his trade secrets comes into play. Just like when Parcells passed the torch to Belichick. For me this is why Josh agreed to stay, best coach/GM ever saying he will teach you everything you need to know. How to manage the cap, how to draft, how to build a complete team, etc.

I rewatched the 2nd half of that superbowl. OMG. The Patriots had Philly stopped on 3rd down and Bademosi totally missed the tackle so Philly got a 1st down on their way to a TD that made it 29-19 after NE had opened up with their Gronk TD drive to open the 2nd half.
The lack of tackling (they certainly missed Butler on that front too) - I get that Butler wasn't great this year, but he was better than Bademosi and Jordan.
I think, after reflection, that the loss kind of reminds me of the Yankees World Series loss of 2001 when the greatest closer in history lost a 2-1 lead in the 9th inning of Game 7.
Rivera was the GOAT at his position, had a ton of post-season success with a team that wreaked of Championships, but sometimes the heroics get so big, that failure is inevitable.
I was thinking about that as many people were expecting Tom Brady to rally the Patriots down the field yet again to take a 39-38 lead in those last 2 minutes and 21 seconds.
Like the might Rivera finally failed in the 9th inning of Game 7, Brady fumbled the ball at the worst time and it killed them. It's certainly no criticism of Brady - he was phenomenal and would have been MVP in almost any other circumstance...it just showed he's human and no matter even if you're the greatest of all-time, sports has a way of being very humbling.
To me that loss is kind of like the Yankees 2001 World Series loss, painful, yet prideful in that the Yankees did a lot of great things in that Series to be proud of. Likewise Brady was amazing, bringing the Patriots down the field again and again and again every time their defense failed, which was virtually every stinking time.
