Oh my...tonight's line up. Not much in the way of table setting for Benny, and Hanley still at clean up. No Nunez, Betts or Pedroia really thins out the offense
Xander Bogaerts SS
Chris Young RF
Andrew Benintendi LF
Hanley Ramirez DH
Sam Travis 1B
Rafael Devers 3B
Deven Marrero 2B
Sandy Leon C
Jackie Bradley Jr. CF

Still can't figure that out. Brentz in LF or DH over the last few weeks of the season would have helped the team, likely, a lot. And he could have been auditioning for 2018 as 4th OF or a trade. He and Devers hit 30+HR in 2017, and he gets to sit down instead of, say, Boyer, while Rafa wins games with his power. Makes zero sense. Not saying Brentz would be an answer to a struggling Young or Arabia, just that we will never know. With or without injuries, I fear that JF will continue stubbornly putting out a team that can't compete against these Jays and Astros, no matter how well Sale and Porcello pitch. Perhaps Brentz, stepping in for Mookie, Hanley, Mitch could have helped clinch this thing, maybe early.

Yup... Young is "hitting" .125 with a .409 OPS since August 11, including 2-27 vs. LHPs. Sure, there is no room for Brentz. Young doesn't even have slider bat speed anymore. He should have been DFA'ed months ago.

I appreciate JF giving opportunities to Holt and Young to regain their form, as at their best they can be valuable in the post season. It seems to be so for Holt, but CY is still struggling. He needn't be DFA'd with expanded rosters, but Winning is the game now, and Brentz might have helped while CY remained a club house leader and mentor, even for Brentz.

wow, I didn't realize we were 13th in defense in the AL. I thought we were supposed to be one of the better defensive teams.

Sale may need to hold the Jays to 2 runs or less tonight?

5 K's through 2 innings. these hitters today are going to ruin baseball. Too many K's.

we really need to make sure guys are healthy for the playoffs. Having 2 important guys banged up can't happen.
