I think people are underestimating the power of having thousands of people cheer you on vs the opposite. When you are young or your name is not Lebron it has an affect that is hard to measure, except for in this series where it has been very easy to see. It just pumps up the energy level and confidence and the GAHRDEN has been rocking!! One more game and what this young team has done is historic IMO. On the backs of 3 young guys who have hardly ever started before this year. The future, which is next year, is so bright!!

So I was listening to a conversation on the radio the other day about how much credit Brad Stevens gets for this team and it's not a new narrative. Someone will say he's the best coach and one who gets the most out of his players and that's why they are where they are; then another guy will chime in and say it's a players game and while he is a good coach he's getting way too much credit.
While I'd be more inclined to agree with the later of those arguments I do think the first one is true to a point as well. But I've been thinking about this for a long time. While I do think Stevens is an amazing coach I think he gets put up on that pedestal because the Celtics don't have a Lebron, Durant, or a Harden to point to and say that is the man carrying this team. While young and talented the Celtics just aren't good enough to justify themselves being here so it must be the coach. Or so it seems.
I'd like to propose an alternative theory. These youngsters are blossoming right in front of our eyes and are a lot better than people are giving them credit for. I'm not saying Tatum is Durant and Brown is Harden (or that they ever will be) but I'm saying these guys have developed much faster than we thought they would and are taking another step forward in these playoffs.
It's one thing to take a step forward, it's another to do it in the playoffs. These guys have the "it" factor so I think they win it tonight. I wouldn't be surprised if we made it a series with Houston/GS either, although the buck may very well stop there. Still, I'm in it until they are out, drop the veil over my eyes....we're going all the way boys! Go Celtics!!!!

Yes, but it's also a little the shooting backdrop. As a shooter, if you're completely used to the sightings, as you will be in your home court, you tend to hit more of your shots. You realize their shooting percentage in game six was amazingly good and in game 5 amazingly bad right? The sight lines may have an affect but it’s not like going from playing in an arena to a stadium like the NCAA likes to do to its players. I was talking more about why home court is an advantage generally, rather than a couple of games. But in this series, the home team has shot better from beyond the 3 point line in 4 of the 6 games, with a 5th being even. Home teams have also shot better from the FT line in 4 games, with a 5th being an advantage for the away team by 0.4%. Some of those FT advantages have been pretty dramatic both ways, actually. I don't think using percentages necessarily tells the whole story, since they don't really measure open looks vs contested shots, etc. But as someone who was something of a shooter, I know I was much more comfortable shooting in an environment I was used to. Not that I can compare my crappy self to pros, of course.

The reason I give Stevens credit beyond what is obvious is his track record with players. All that have played for him have played better while playing for him than while with a different team. Crowder, Turner, IT, Avery Bradley come to mind. Winning tonight should bring enough credit for all of them, it's not going to be easy. Go Celtics!!

Kevin Love out for game 7. Wow. That certainly helps.

My friends, regardless of who wins tonight it's been a ride and certainly a pleasure to share this incredible season with you all here. This thread has been awesome, which is fitting for how legendary this Celtics team is.
That being said, let's beat the living sh*t out of the Cavs and keep on rocking.

I expect Green to have a big game. He is better defensively and more explosive and varied offensively. Plus he is motivated as an x-Celtic.

Morris doesn't pass and takes way too many hard shots.

The end of the quarter there was the kind of offense I like this team running. Pass the ball around to get in the paint, stop trying to be the Warriors and throw up desperate 3s. Punish them inside, the Cavs are a terrible defensive team so don't make it easy for them.
The moment deserved a better shot than what Rozier put up.

Yea he should have rushed it up the court, I didn't like that one bit. I hate creating 3 point shots off the dribble.

Morris doesn't pass and takes way too many hard shots. Agreed, I doubt he gets many minutes next year. Good defense, bad offense.

LeBron is scoring and rebounding, but he really hasn't played well. Turnovers, bad shots, mistakes on D.
But the rest of his team hasn't shown up at all. If we were hitting shots, this thing would be in the 20s already easily.

Stevens is subbing differently - looks like he won’t sub Tatum and Horford at same time

There was a play a minute ago where JR was open and didn't get the ball near the basket and then he just turned and wasn't even paying attention to the action for a few seconds. Pouting.
