Will the racist tweets cost Allen today? Maybe but they shouldn’t. They are from 6 years ago and some dumb high school kid.

Worst case is they get Barkey and 1 of Allen, Darnold or Mayfield. If they want Barkley, they need to take him at #1. If they want a particular QB, they'll have to take him at #1 and probably trade down from #4.

If they want a particular QB, they'll have to take him at #1 and probably trade down from #4. You take the QB you want and they still could get Barkley at #4. It's not a given the Giants take him. Reports say they might trade the pick, they love Darnold and Chubb. Heck they might take Nelson per some reports. You just don't know.

The Browns have been tied to all 3 QBs so they probably are fine with any of the 3. If Barkley doesn't fall to 4, they should trade down, but you can't count on a trade being there.

The Browns could take Barkley at #1 and still get Mayfield at 4. There’s no guarantee of this, but if they want the QB of their choice and Barkley then they should just trade with the Giants at 2. Move the 4 and their first second round pick to the Giants for that second pick. All they need to do is tell the Giants they are happy with one of 2 QBs and they will take Barkley 1 and pick the QB left over at 4.

I'm not following your logic, even if Barkley is gone, there are a ton of guys that are worthy of the #4 pick. They don't need more picks, they need good players. Chubb and Nelson are both worth the #4 pick. You're acting like there won't be a player worthy of that pick at 4 if Barkley is gone and that's just not true.

Baker Mayfield will be the #1 pick. IMO he will be like Russell Wilson. There is hope for the Browns after all. They get Mayfield and Barkley they should be on their way, obviously their track record with draft picks is horrible so maybe Mayfield is a bust based on the history of bad luck. I doubt it though, I think they both will be very good. Great story for a franchise that could really use a great story, a rb and a qb that come in the same draft #1 and #4 that turns around 20+ years of futility.

Russell is a much better athlete and seems to have a much better head on his shoulders than Mayfield. The draft is some what of a crap shoot obviously and we won't know until a few years from now who was right but personally I don't see Mayfield panning out. I think the Browns would be making a huge mistake taking Mayfield at #1, but we shall see.

Wilson is a better athlete but Mayfield is no slouch. Mayfields numbers are a lot more impressive and you would have to give him an edge in opponent strength. Wilson had a very good college career but it doesn't really compare. I guess you are right about the height thing but Mayfield is comparable also in his mobility as well. I am basing most of my prediction on the numbers. 12,000 yards passing, 70% completion rate with a 117/20 td/int ratio in 3 years at Oak. along with a heismen is pretty damn good for a walk on.
The draft is definitely a crap shoot when it comes to Qb's but you have to take a shot as the good ones rarely become available in FA.

By the way Tom Petty was my first concert, Cape Cod Coliseum 1980. RIP He was my first concert as well. Hartford, CT in 2014 and I saw both his shows in Boston in 2017. He will forever be my favorite musician along with the Heartbreakers. So I don't derail this thread though, Mayfield's college numbers are extremely impressive and he very well could be a great NFL QB. I definitely think the Brown's need to and will pick a QB with that #1 pick I guess I am just not sold on Mayfield being that guy. They all have their strengths, weaknesses and red flags though so only time will tell with this QB draft class. This is the most intriguing NFL draft I can remember, usually everybody knows who will be the first pick a week before the draft. Not to mention all the possible trades for the other teams who need a QB, I certainly will be tuned in.

Both are shorter athletic QBs that can make all the throws, make throws while moving and make plays with their legs. Also both were redshirt seniors that played 4 years and spent 5 years in College. Also both played for two different teams, spending one year at one school and 4 years at another. Also both had great production and got better. The one big issue with Mayfield is he played all 4 years in a spread offense. I'm not really worried about that, but he might not be a fit for everyone.

Might be the worst overall defensive conference in college as of the last few years. Edit: Out of the big power 5 conferences I should clarify.

I wouldn’t compare UCal Berkeley QBs to Florida and Oklahoma St as far as stats and hype go but perhaps I’m wrong and if you mean the State of California then... well there are a kajilion schools in California so it’s a bit different. But yes there’s always one who can buck a trend but you have to look beyond the stats to find him because the stats are worthless.

I will say this.. this is the most divisive draft I’ve seen in a long long time. I’ve seen 3 different QBs mocked as the first pick. Darnold, Mayfield and Allen. Plenty of others think Rosen is the best of the lot but makeup has him not going first. Then some truly believe Lamar Jackson isn’t just the best QB but the best player even though he has no chance to go number 1.
Then you have a guy like Chubb who a lot have going 2nd or 4th overall but a lot of other people think Landry is the better edge rusher. Yet Landry gets mocked down in the 20s in some drafts.
Then you have a guy like Nelson who’s a consensus stud but he’s a guard. No problem guards are more valuable now, but it also happens to be the deepest position in the draft.
On top of it all you get a corner like Ward who most seem to think is top corner but some others really drop him down their boards.
It’s all crazy and awesome

Every time I hear Baker-Mayfield I just don't get him and now Number one! LOL. I might be wrong I don't see it.
I hope We get a lot of defense help. We have the picks to get talent. Losing that Super Bowl was the dumbest thing. I don't want to waste a pick on a WR or RB. We probably need a OT. I have a feeling one of these top defensive players might get close enough to grab him. Like the year we got Chandler Jones. They need a LB.

I’m sure the team feels that way but I don’t think it’s the smart play to convince yourself to roll the dice on one. If they really like one then surely take him but if they really didn’t like the QBs as TOP guys, then the Browns would be smarter to trade down from the top pick for a trove of picks, take a stud at 4, another top guy with the new firsts. Like could you get 12, 34 and next years 1 for the first pick from Buffalo or more? Then draft something like: 4. Chubs 12. Rosen or Jackson or go with more D like Ward, James or Fitzpatrick Then you have picks 33,34,35: if you go D early you can grab Rudolph, a top back like Chubb and a top receiver or even tight end that’s going to fall. Point is don’t force a top pick QB who you don’t think is a stud at 1.

Cleveland has traded back twice the last two years by passing on QBs. No way should they do it again. This is a good QB class. Has a little bit of everything. If you don't like one of these 5 QBs you'll never find a QB.
