I’ll be at Potomac for the weekend series. Looks like Thompson and Mata for the first two games. Not sure about Sunday.

Ok I pondered it for like 45 minutes and I'm still not getting the Kung Fu reference.

Is the International League loaded with pitching prospects this year or are the PawSox just running into every single one of them lately?

Netzer just hit a home run over the right field wall. Really nice swing.
And Kyri Washington follows an inning later with a three run homer. He’s been hot lately. Side note, he’s definitely a lot smaller than I thought.

Marino Campana with a grand slam for the Drive. The fourth must be with him

Thompson exits after a double and homer run (that was absolutely smoked) in the sixth. Replaced by Requena, who I guess changed his number to 23 when Weems got promoted. Roster has him listed at #20.

And Kyri Washington cannot be stopped. Goes opposite field this time for his third home run of the night.

Home run derby tonight for Salem. Baldwin just took a ball to left center. Funny part is the center fielder lost his glove over the wall trying to make the catch.

Marino Campana with a grand slam for the Drive. The fourth must be with him And then Drive blow the lead. I feel this year's Drive team has been quite a dissapointment thus far. I mean, they're 5-23. So I doubt there's anyone there who isn't disappointed, to put it mildly. Still, there have been some real bright spots. Chatham has been good after being hurt so much of last year (though as a 2016 college draftee, him being at Greenville isn't ideal), and Victor Acosta's been excellent. Kutter Crawford has been a real breakout guy on the mound, Denyi Reyes has been great. Everything about Jhonathan Diaz's stat line is good except the ERA - 32 innings, 30 hits, 31Ks, 9 BB, 2 HR doesn't usually add up to a 4.78 ERA, that's some Rick Porcello-in-Detroit level underachieving the peripherals. They've definitely been hurt some by injuries, but even more by how aggressive the organization was with its 2017 draftees. The top three college players (Houck, Netzer, and Thompson) were all sent to Salem,. Meanwhile, both top high school draftees (Brannen and Scherff) are relatively raw and were still challenged, and they have struggled, though Scherff was excellent on Wednesday.

Trivia time! Can you name the highest-ranked position player who is a)not on the DL and b) batting above .200? C.J. Chatham. --------------------------------- And, totally unrelated, I hope we can give this more attention in the morning. Was it the radio "Purple Hills" cut or the actual album one? If it's the latter, I second Chris in having a lot of questions, not the least of which is the fact he'd have been like seven when that song came out.

I went to Hartford last night to catch the Sea Dogs so I can tell you a little more than what is in the box score if you are interested. Chris, I hope you are there to edit when I'm done.

As I walked up to the gate, I was surprised to see Dave Dombroski standing on the sidewalk holding the phone to his ear. I just gave him a thumbs up and told him nice start to the year. I sat behind the Sea Dogs dugout on the first base side so I missed a lot of the pitch movement last night. Gun readings are from the scoreboard. I was thankful to get Shawaryn on my one visit this weekend.

Acosta, Chatham, and Crawford have been great, but they can't carry the team alone. Brannen and Scherff may need some time in Lowell when the season starts unless Scherff continues to pitch the way he did on Wednesday.

Mike was both a little unlucky with bloop hits against him and also bailed out with outstanding defensive plays (I guess that is typical). Daza led off the 1st getting jammed and dropping a bloop just inside the right field line for a double, coming around to score on future Rockies shortstop Roger's line single, the only solid hit Shawaryn gave up through 4 innings. Sturgeon prevented further damage in the first with a nice diving catch in the right center gap to end the inning.
