Brutal. Terrible. Barnes needs to be behind Kelly and Smith. And pleaseplease Thornburg.

There are times where I feel like I'm done with this team. Seriously, I'd just skip tomorrow's game and go on to the next team. I wouldn't even give them the satisfaction of beating us. Just give them the game and we can get the heck out of that city.

Nevermind Kimbrel is awful tonight. Unbelievable.
What a horrible last 24 hours.

Well look, it wasn't a clean start to an inning; you can't actually expect Kimbrel to pitch well.

I haven't been on for awhile, but i'm SURE it's been already said: NO RUNS IN THE *8TH WHEN THE SOX HAD 2ND & 3RD WITH NO OUTS WAS A HUGE LET DOWN!

This team is a WC team at best.
That’s if they make the playoffs.

That inning was just so obvious. The Yankees might lose like two more games the rest of the year.

What pisses me off is the Yankees haven't even started to heat up. This is unbelieveable like a magic act. Their hitters have been junk all year.

The Yankees did this to the Angels; they did it to the Astros, and they did it to the Indians. Now they’re doing it to the Red Sox.
This isn’t about what the Red Sox didn’t do — through 36 games they have been as gutsy and better than we had any right to expect — this is about the fact that the Yankees are really, really good.
Based on run differential, the Yankees should have won 102?games last year, and they’re even better this year.
When you consider the way they also cynically capitalized on other teams’ reluctance to endorse domestic violence not once, but twice, it is more than a little throat-warming to have to admit how good they actually are.

Well that was not too predictable.
Don't cash in those two runners with 2nd and 3rd and no out - what do you expect?
I said the bullpen would have a terrible series - they had been too good lately and they're facing the best team in the league.
They are going to need a real 8th inning guy they can really trust, although Kimbrel who is normally great didn't exactly wrap himself up in glory today.
But don't want to spread negative vibes - I'm so sure the Sox are going to beat NY tomorrow, because of course they will.
And I'm positive if the Sox should ever find themselves down 7.5 games to the Yankees they'll come roaring right back - because gosh darn it of course they will. Because teams erase those kinds of deficits all the time. The Sox managed to do it in 1988 so it happens all the time.
Oh well, first place was fun while it lasted. Maybe the Sox shouldn't do historically hot starts. I mean they started 40-17 in 2002 and that didn't do them any good. Finishing well mean more than starting well anyways.

What pisses me off is the Yankees haven't even started to heat up. What do you call this streak? If this isn't heated up? They'll cool down but their cool down will be playing plus .600 ball the rest of the way while the Sox play between .550 - .575 ball the rest of the way. The Red Sox are a very good team but I think the Yanks are a bit better. Torres is a great addition to their lineup. They're weak in CF and defensively at catcher. Their pitching is much maligned but like last year their ERA and runs allowed is right there with the Sox. And their offense is better. Didn't need a 1000 word essay to say that the Yanks are a bit better than the Sox. All you'll have to do is look at the standings at the end of 162 games this year. I don't think the Yanks are underperforming their pythag record this year. And all those "flukes" from last year aren't that flukey.

I was ok with taking 1 out 3 provided they didn't piss away any of those two losses. Well tonight they pissed it away.
Memo to Alex Cora - it's actually not against the law to pinch-hit for your catcher especially when you have two more still on your active roster.
So the Sox lost because they couldn't put the game away against some guy name Holder and Barnes and Kimbrel spit the bit. Not good.
And worse, there's a good shot they get swept. E-Rod against CC isn't a great matchup for the Sox.

I thought Cora made the right calls tonight, but the bullpen just shit the bed (and we failed to add on runs in a golden opportunity) - it sucks, but it happens.

Yeah Cora should have went to Swihart to pinch hit for Vazquez in that spot.
