Well that sucked! We lost the game in the top of the 8th when Devers and Vazquez pooped the bed. The MFY are in a really good place right now where everything goes their way (you can't keep winning games in the 8th for 2 weeks no matter how good you are! Long season, marathon etc etc... PS: Rafa, for **** sake, stop swinging at pitchs in the dirt or neck high! You're too good for that!

Man I did not even want to click this thread lol. It's tough because they could have won the last 2 games but I appreciate the effort to make them winnable in the first place. Long season man, we'll get over this.

What a horrible 24 hours for the Sox. I might need a break from baseball. Once the Sox get out of NY they'll be fine. They'll go win a bunch of games. But if the Sox are going to get anywhere this year they'll have to beat the Yankees head-to-head. Because if the Sox wind up as the division champ and the Yanks win their Wild Card game they'd likely face each other in the ALDS unless Houston posts a better record. Likewise in the scenario that I think is most likely to play out where the Yanks and Sox have the best records and the Sox have a Fenway game against somebody, have to use Chris Sale, and then if they win they'd likely face NY in the ALDS unless Houston has a better record. It's weird that you're better off being the division winner with the 2nd best record this year because you play the Indians in the ALDS who are not very good but will likely win the division by default - they might only win about 85 - 88 games when all is said and done.

I'll be fine if they win tomorrow. Between the Groome injury, the losing of the lead in the division. The way they lost it tonight. Just such a letdown.

Since being no hit the Sex has been under .500 with a .238 BA and a .698OPS..
Pitching wise is the same story... we have a 4.36 ERA since being no hit...

Every season has ebbs and flows. They will win 60 and lose 60, the other 42 will determine the season. Besides I'd rather not be like Bruins and peak in the beginning or middle of the season. I am starting to wonder if they are looking at Machado though.

I am starting to wonder if they are looking at Machado though. The Sox won't be in on Machado. Plus, they don't have enough to get him. Jimed might have been right before about not having enough to get Realmuto, but now he's definitely right. This system is officially one of the 5 worst or 3 worst systems in baseball now. The best prospect the Sox have to trade is Beeks and/or Mata. That is bad. The Sox might have enough for a rental reliever type, but that is it.

Thornburg is reportedly hitting 97 mph and gaining back his curveball. Carson Smith is getting back on track, he generated 12 whiffs in his last 58 pitches to strikeout 6 without allowing a walk. it's gonna be alright at the end of the bullpen. The most important thing for me is health for the long season.

The pitch calling for Kimbrel was not good. After Gardner fouled off a 97 MPH pitch and had two strikes, I said out loud, throw a curve, Instead he threw another fastball and lost the game. With so many pitchers now throwing 97 and 98 MPH fastballs, the hitters are adjusting, Pitchers, or catchers, have to be smarter.

With so many pitchers now throwing 97 and 98 MPH fastballs, the hitters are adjusting, Pitchers, or catchers, have to be smarter. With a runner on 3b perhaps they were more reluctant to throw the curve for fear of bouncing that pitch to the backstop. Normally Kimbrel comes in without traffic and can throw a fastball at 100 MPH. He hasn't quite got it fully dialed back up yet. And Gardner and Judge made him pay. Aaron Judge is the real deal whether he strikes out 225 times or not. He can mash and somehow maintain a good batting average.

Red Sox should have won this game. I know we're only down 1, but I really don't feel good about the way they played this game. The offense was good and it gives them a late lead, but then Barnes and Kimbrel blow things.

That was as tough of a regular season loss as I can remember. It is not cool that we went 17-1, and they are going 17-1. The guys that have failed us before (Hembree, Barnes.....), failed us again. I will be on pins and needles tonight. I hope the boys can put it together.

At least Benintendi actually drove a ball out last night! Hanley finally found the barrel again too!
They need those two (And Devers needs to adjust, where'd his oppo pop go?). The pitching was off to a ridiculous start, but I'm not worried. The Yanks have the horseshoe up their butt right now. Both are good teams, just a bad taste from last night.

I f-ing hate the Yankees. Losing two winnable games to them in the Bronx is extremely frustrating.

Price can’t put the video game controller down. This guy can’t leave Boston soon enough, what a bum.

ERod at 94-96 bodes well for him and us. indeed; I was a little concerned in his last outing because he started throwing a lot of 4-seamers at around 90 midway through the game.
