Giving away winnable games My good man surely you jest. This was our 4-5th starter against their ace and the Yankees have been ridiculous lately. This is not winnable. One balk or a bad carom or the top of a wall on Martinez’s hit (or the cheap shots Staton got from being a Sox lead.

Luckily we have Devers, Nuney and Bradley coming up to save the game/

If they could bring up Pomeranz 3 games before he was ready don’t see why they can’t bring up Thornberg tomorrow and Pedroia early next week.

Hopefully one more Devers' magical game against Chapman in Yankee stadium.

One balk or a bad carom or the top of a wall on Martinez’s hit (or the cheap shots Staton got from being a Sox lead. I mean yeah it was close and we could have won, but it could just as easily have been a 10-0 pounding.

"You wanna stay away from this guy. You wanna take care of business with Vasquez." - YES announcer with Mookie Betts in the frame.

Why is Swihart on the team if they are not going to use him here?

“The New York Yankees: Proud Sponsors of Domestic Violence since 2016.”
So when exactly are they going to have their #MeToo moment? Certainly their sleazy, cynical exploitation of Chapman’s egregious domestic violence incident merits it.

The weakest groundball ever from Vazquez. You got pinch hit for him with ANYONE else.

Heath Hembree.

Winnable game. We need to plug some holes in the line up...too many automatic outs lately.
And get the bullpen order right. Barnes any time, any day over Hembree in a tight, important game.
Yuck.

Nice effort by the guys, with the exception of Heater. It is gonna be a long season, they played very competitively today.

I've been off the Hembree bandwagon for a while. Yeah every once in a while he'll strike out the side of a order and look great, but then he'll give up a double and maybe some more hard hit balls the next inning or outing.

Remember Stanton had 2 cheap homeruns also. Drew gutted it out. Kelly did good work.
I will say that Cora really does not want to go off script too much. Part of his job is to take risk and live with the results.

It was our worst pitching match-up of the series. It was a close game, we fought hard, came up short.
I am at peace with this loss.

Certainly their sleazy, cynical exploitation of Chapman’s egregious domestic violence incident merits it. In the Cleveland series, Sanchez couldn't block a Chapman slider in the dirt so Tom Hamilton (the tribe's play by play guy) says "he better stay away from Chapman's garage tonight" lmao

Part of his job is to take risk and live with the results. I agree with most of what you said Jerry, but Kelly was not good today. 1 hit, one wild pitch, one walk in one inning of work. Two of his outs in his inning of work came on a throw out home at the plate.

I think Dave and Jerry are being too generous - you don't get credit for consistency when you're consistently calling pitches two balls off the plate strikes. That is consistently being horrible at your job and injecting yourself into the game in big situations. The only reason Hanley didn't hit with runners on the corners is because a pitch four inches off the plate was called a strike. I guess some find that 'charming' but I do not... i think that is fair.....and your right. I did see some MFY's also shaking their head, but we got the worst of it.

You just described the majority of relievers across Major League Baseball. That's true. I just don't think he is very good in leverage situations. Maybe everyone else is right about putting him in so early in the game before Smith, Barnes, and Kelly.
